Oh ha ha! he's actually the lead singer of a group called Idlewild & its just about to release his first folk record with collaborations from such luminaries as Karine Polwart, So there Tongue

Depends how wide you want to spread the definition, but while she preceded rock'n'roll, there's no doubt that Billie Holiday certainly lived the lifestyle and her musical influence just goes on.

Lady Day, no-one else comes close.
