From Phil Beer and Steve Knightley

Hello everyone  Fez

Our new studio album, 'Witness', is now mixed, mastered and manufactured.

Produced by Simon Emmerson and Mass of Afro-Celt fame it has been an absolute joy to record. World renowned for their ability to blend ethnic, acoustic instruments and modern rhythms they have taken all the SOH trademark sounds and added textures and heartbeats to produce a rich, contemporary collection of narrative songs, most of which are located in and around the West Country.

Pre-production began in Exeter at the Riverside studios in December and the recording itself at the Presshouse studios in Colyton, East Devon in January. Many of the songs such as 'Roots' The Dive' 'All I'd ever lost' and 'Undertow' were previewed in concert last year and our regular sound engineer, Mick Dolan was also involved throughout the recording process.

We have also decided to take on the machine again and release two tracks, 'Witness' and 'If I Needed Someone' as downloadable singles on Monday, May 22nd. Technology has now made it possible for independent labels to compete with the major record companies for an indy chart placing and possible radio play.

The 'Witness' promotional tour begins in April, breaks for the festival season, recommences in Germany in September, and then continues throughout the Autumn.

This all builds up to an important date for the diary.

The third Show of Hands Royal Albert Hall concert will take place on Sunday 8th April 2007.

Tickets will not be on sale for another month or so - watch the website for more details.

See you out there somewhere and here's to the CD, the single, the show …and now the slog!

Don't miss it - the new album sounds as good/even better than Country Life from the samples.

You must be going to the workshop then.  Friends of mine are going, and Dennis and I were going, but I couldn't find anyone to look after Jack as He didn't want to come 'cos he said he'd get bored! Didn't fancy paying out £30 for something he'd get bored at...silly boy! Roll Eyes

Hear samples from the new album at www.showofhands.co.uk

Over a year in the making, it is the result of a collaboration with Grammy-nominated producer Simon Emmerson and Mass of Afro Celts fame.

Steve Knightley says: “This creative partnership has proved inspirational and taken us on quite a journey. We hope fans will like what they hear – it’s still Show of Hands but with more layers and depth.”

Due early May I believe (Musikfolk have it available from the 8th). The samples sound great and the live versions I heard last year were excellent.

Sounds great. They played a couple of tracks at about 3am on Radio Five a couple of weeks ago. The "up all night" show's world music correspondant is a fan, so they turn up on the show quite often.
