Hi Simon

I have a lot to thank you for as you were the person who turned me back to folk after so much time off. Last year at Broadstairs Folk Week I saw the Simon Care Trio play a brilliant set which really warmed me up for Cropredy.

When I asked you if you were on your way to Cropredy (after seeing a Cropredy poster in your car and not realising you were stage manager) you said "yes" but seemed rather worried. I have a photo of you at Cropredy 2004 also looking rather worried.

This year it seemed that you couldn't stop smiling, which was great to see  Smiley

So how does it feel to be stage managing Cropredy - what makes you grumpy and what makes you happy?

Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for the kind remarks regarding SimonCare Trio.

That year was my first as MC and Stage Manager at Cropredy and, indeed, i was extremely worried. How can anyone try to step into Johnny Jones' shoes. He was a very hard act to follow. As for the MC work, i do lots of it, but to walk out infront of 20,000 odd people is a little daunting to say the least.
So maybe i was worried but that translated as grumpy (i do that pretty well as well)
But this year it was great, i felt more at ease.
Also i have to mention that the stage team at Cropredy is probably the most professional, well-oiled machine that i have ever worked with. That makes it quite easy. Plus this year i wasn't scared of you buggers!

Things that make me grumpy.

1/ Musicians that keep playing while you are trying to soundcheck (usually bass players)
2/ Having to argue the toss about something that has already been agreed in writing.
3/ Gareth Turner getting gigs that I wanted . lol
4/ People who drop litter.......should be shot
Not a lot else.

Things that make me happy
1/ My Wife and Family
2/ Other band members leaving the stage when i soundcheck.
3/ Getting Tickled Pink to Cropredy - Dream come true.
4/ Getting Cave to Cropredy - that would make my year.
5/ Morris dancing
6/ Working with lovely people ( which i do most of the time)

Cheers
