Gerry Conway and his different time

Hi Jacqui
As someone who has only experienced Gerry
From time to time
(great title for his solo album when he's ready for it) I'd like to know how you deal with the different beats he has going on.
I know from experience that even you guys have to go to the supermarket now and again. Is Gerry of any help within the confines of the shop, and does he welcome the introduction of Starbucks into selected Sainsbury's stores?
I also know that some of Gerry's beats are on a much longer time frame than my own. I'm used to a beat every so often that you can count them by the minute (bpm). It strikes me that some of Gerry's beats last several weeks, but that he knows exactly where he is within those waves. This is one of the reasons why he is a groovemeister. He and Russ Kunkel are my favourite rhythmists of the last 500 years...
PS. What's your opinion of the Harrington 1200?
Luv

Hi, sorry to but in!.....
being a drummer as well!
i know that you don't want to over play - sort of dominate the song.
there are ways to get knoticed tho! buy using different techniques and chaining time signatures half way through bar's <or one bar at the start of every 4 <if you are playing in 4:4>> this will give you an Impression of a sort of off beat <almost out of time feel> but it sounds rely good if you know where to do it!
hope that wasn't just a random amount of ramble.....
Olly:)
p.s. Dave used to chainge from 4:4s to 9:8ths quite a bit, that is one reason why i think he was such a good drummer!

It's good, but I'd rather listen to Synthesizer Patel.

Give me Antony Carmichael any day - I'm sure that his 'rap' music is going to catch on
