I actually asked him at the time if he’d been taking lessons, however he put it down to a relaxed environment and a healthy lifestyle. I agree, the journey between ‘Breakfast in Mayfair’ and ‘John Condon’ gives every aspiring singer hope.

Listening to John Cordon and I think this is one of the finest Simon Nichol's vocals of recent times that I know. It tests his range and ability to convey the emotion of a moving song. There may be others I haven't heard so happy to hear what others think.

Mike Absalom was a 70's favourite. His comic creations included "WPC Sadie Stick", well worth a listen.
ha ha but not a patch on WPC Hodges by the Scaffold/John Gorman as featured on the new box set. I still laugh out loud when I think of seeing that and associated sketches as part of Grimms 55years ago. After Les Barker the funniest thing ever.

Someone posted a gig guide from the NME in 1973 on Facebook which included this. I haven't heard of either of the support acts.

Malcolm Morley was (fairly briefly, but maybe around then, perhaps before) in Bees Make Honey after Help Yourself.  I've always thought of them as 'pub rock'....
