Title: Documentary Film about Cropredy Festival
Post by: KascadeDan on April 08, 2019, 08:46:59 PM
Evening all.

You might know me as Dan from Cropredy Blog. We’ve been making online video content focused primarily on the Cropredy Festival for ten years. Last year we started talks about possibly making a documentary film about the festival’s forty year history, and we are pleased to say it is happening. We plan to release the film this time next year, however we need as much support from everyone as possible to make it as good as it can be. There are links below to a video that will tell you all about it, and a link to the first part of our crowdfunding campaign.

We hope you are as excited about this as we are!

Thanks for listening.

From Matt, Tom and Dan.

Can you add another prize level to include all 3 options? Ie include the early view with the third option?

Hi Chris

Yes, the advanced screening will be included in the third tier reward.

With the best will in the world a bit more info before I stump up my hard earned:

1. Other than an annual blog what are your documentary making credentials?
2. Is this sanctioned by the band with access to their archives
3. Are you simply asking funding for your own hobby rather than a serious project?

Sorry to sound overly negative but when you ask for my cash I feel I can ask.

Good luck,

DW

Hey David

Not at all, all valid questions.

1. If you want a taste for what we can achieve with more high end equipment and official access, look no further than our annual coverage of the New Forest Folk Festival. I’ll post the link to the full playlist, but the two most recent ones are the best examples: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZvrbRrfsWthkFx2jP-dXKbYMz9iwTA7

2. We have been in talks with Andy and Stevie at Iconic for six months who are to oversee the project with the band’s blessing and help us get the access we need.

3. Essentially, it is both. It is something we really wanted to do, but we also believe there is a gap in the market for an up to date documentary focused solely on the Festival’s history and not just its own section in a film about the history of the band as a whole. Once the project has been completed it will be available to watch for free.

A very good afternoon to you all. As you may already know, we are working on a documentary film about the history of the Cropredy Festival, and we need your help to make it happen. Earlier in the year, we launched a Kickstarter campaign, with a target of £700. You guys raised over £900! Thanks to you, we were able to upgrade our equipment ready for the Festival where the bulk of our recording took place. But now it is time to think about post-production, and for that we need your help again. Below is a link to phase two of our Kickstarter campaign, this time we’re working towards a smaller target of £300. Anything you can do to help us will be greatly appreciated, even if it is just sharing this link. Thank you so much for listening. We appreciate everything you guys do for us - Matt, Tom & Dan.

Evening all, hope you are keeping well in these difficult times.

Just want to update you on this project.

First of all, thank you so much to everyone on here that donated. We really appreciate it. If any of you donated £15 or more, you may have already seen the completed film. In which case, we hope you enjoyed it. The film’s official release date is Friday 3rd April, and will be available to view from all our social media platforms from then.

We’ve been hard at work on this documentary for about a year and a half, and we are really pleased with how it came out. We hope you like it too.

Well folks, it’s here!

Summer by The Cherwell, our documentary film about the history of the Cropredy festival!

Many of you made donations to our crowdfunding campaign to make this possible, and for that we are eternally grateful.

Just watched it through - really entertaining, and I think you've captured the "friendly family festival" vibe perfectly. Congratulations!

Well that’s just lovely. Well worth a watch. I thought it was interesting when Chris Pegg mentioned the change from the festival being booked by musicians to being booked by promoters.

I really enjoyed that!

I've never been to the festival. Never been overly keen on large events but I have to say the enthusiasm coming through from everyone in the film makes wonder whether I ought to give it a go.

I'm about halfway through it - it's really great. I'm glad this piece of history will be preserved in this way.

He's the strong, silent type.  :)
