Title: Stomp Box Post by: PaulT on October 30, 2018, 06:44:46 PM Advice please...
our uke band has realised that some percussion would be most useful... someone suggested buying a stomp box out of band funds which I could put thru my Ampeg bass combo (it has 2 inputs). Does anyone have any experience of using stomp boxes? A cajon would be my preference, but then we'd need a cajon player, whereas the stomp box would be the realm of my foot! Cheers Title: Re: Stomp Box Post by: davidmjs on October 30, 2018, 06:47:34 PM Advice please... our uke band has realised that some percussion would be most useful... someone suggested buying a stomp box out of band funds which I could put thru my Ampeg bass combo (it has 2 inputs). Cheers You've just been to see KC. Anything less than 3 drummers just won't cut the mustard. Title: Re: Stomp Box Post by: PaulT on October 30, 2018, 06:51:08 PM ;D ;D ;D
Title: Re: Stomp Box Post by: Dan O. on October 30, 2018, 09:50:51 PM Stomp boxes can be very useful - one of the percussionists in my covers band uses an SX stomp which retails for around £30. He stomps it with his foot and also uses it as a hand-held device with a beater. This was the best price we came across at the time - for what's essentially a block of wood with a pickup and a jack socket the prices can be surprising.
I've seen others use Logjam stomp boxes - they're the next stage up, retailing between £50-100. Title: Re: Stomp Box Post by: Jules Gray on October 30, 2018, 11:44:48 PM I'm going to have to Google these things.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKEbkbu6P-I Why don't people just make their own? Or mic up a plank? I don't get it. And I really don't get his shoes. What was he thinking? Oh yeah, I'll wear my silver trainers because they positively scream country blues. ::) Jules Title: Re: Stomp Box Post by: Shane (Skirky) on October 31, 2018, 12:17:56 AM Hardboard, three bugs, DI. It’s not mine, but I had the great pleasure of plugging it in for Banjo Jen at this year’s Maverick Festival.

The other option would be a basic drum machine, I suppose, as that would free me rhythmically - at the moment, the band is relying on me to provide the bass-ic rhythmic pulse, which can get quite restrictive, no playing off the beat etc. Title: Re: Stomp Box Post by: William on October 31, 2018, 08:19:25 PM Boris from The Churchfitters has wired up his boots instead of a stomp box. He is a rather unique musician though.
