I know he played Croppers fairly recently but I again thought he was excellent. His guitar player (David Nachmanoff) was incredible and I thoroughly enjoyed the set

I wasn’t on the field for his set but I could hear it from the tent and it sounded great.

Probably my favourite act of the festival. I first saw him 50 years ago and he still gives me a buzz.

I loved it, on the radio broadcast. Especially the guitar.

Best set of the weekend by a country mile.

A master of songwriting and melody. He was terrific as was Dave Nachmanoff on accompanying guitar and vocals...I was only at Cropredy Saturday but easily my fave turn of the day...A class act !

Sublime as ever

Full disclosure, along with Kim and Muffy I was involved in the running of the Al Stewart Mailing List at the dawn of the Internet. As a student in the early 70s he was right up there. The first gig I went to with Viv was Al Stewart. So maybe a bit of a fan.

I thought his set was masterful. He seems to underrate himself as a guitarist and always bring along a hired gun, but it was the brilliant David Nachmanoff.

I seem to remember that back in the 70s Al Stewart won a “best guitarist” readers poll in NME or Melody Maker even though most of the admired guitar work was courtesy of Tim Renwick.

Nobody has mentioned the Jackson C Frank interlude with Ralph which was great. Nachmanoff is God.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!  Huge smile on my face!  And it wasn't spoiled by people talking right through it down at the front like the last time.  

Ralph coming on to sing 'Blues Run The Game' with him was great, and I was really pleased to hear a few of his newer numbers (House of Clocks, Night Train to Munich and Gina in the Kings Road) as well as the old favourites.

Definitely in my top 5 of the weekend.

I heard the set on Radio oxford and again was reminded what a great songwriter Al is. Amazing how much of the original arrangements were captured with just two guitars. Quality performance even if the crowd sounded a little quiet for most of the set

For the first time I thought I could detect a slight American accent when he spoke.
Hardly surprising given how long he has lived there!

I give up. Isn't anybody going to come on here and say they missed his set?
So that I can say 'You should have listened to Al'

Sadly had to go back to the van and change my trousers. Rain water since you ask. So I missed most of his set. Really disappointed, as I love his music, he writes some really clever stuff. He does come across as a nice bloke who is a bit shy.
