They were indeed fab...a phenomenal set from Judy and and her musicians. Wonderful to hear the whole of "Harpsong" and "Sisterhood of Ruralists", while "If I Had A Ribbon Bow" and an immaculate version of "I Talk To The Wind" further sealed the deal.

Lovely set.
Nice to see Jude with a great band getting some proper stage time.
Great to hear Ribbon Bow on the field. :-*

Excellent set! I love Harpsong, lovely to hear it sung and played live. I Talk to the Wind? Sublime. And - Look What Your Words Did To Me - just great -it reminded me a little of some of James Warren's Stackridge songs - and that's meant as a compliment, btw.

The first ever prog sopranino recorder solo at Cropredy! Little did we know that Jude would set another "first" with FC later that evening...  ;)

Obviously we are going to look biased, but wasn't Judy and her band a delight?

It was a very cunning set list, that just ticked all the boxes as it went along.
Lots of people wondered why it has taken so long for her to get on the Cropredy stage.
Playing the long game?

Absolutely sublime.
So pleased we got Harpsong in all its proggy magnificence!

Jude giving young singers a lesson in diction, phrasing and breathing.

Sadly, there were no greyhounds or autoharps on stage, but we did get a sopranino recorder. The knitting came later. :)

Enjoyed the whole set, but Harp Song was wonderful. It just tells a wonderful story. See comment one. Heard, and understood every word. We did get Ribbon Bow and sigh as well.

I know that I will be thought a heretic on this site but sadly I did not enjoy that set :-[

Unfortunately I had to leave the field (to photograph a wedding on F8!) after I talk to the wind but everything I heard was utterly fab. Well done, our Jude!

I don't know if it was where I was sitting, or the wind direction or some other factor, but a lot of the set for me sounded dreadfully out of tune. Don't know whether Judy was having monitor problems and couldn't hear herself, or whether the wind was having an effect on the pitch, or the Doppler effect.  I moved around the arena a bit to see if it was the position I was sitting in, but it didn't make much difference.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the set because of this. I enjoyed her appearance with FC much more.

Really pleased that Judy has been given an opportunity to perform at Cropredy in her own right…it was a delight...a highlight of my weekend…well done Jude XX

I genuinely loved this set, and it sounded fine about three-quarters of the way back in the field. Just great to hear ambitious and expansive and beautiful music without (ahem) bulls**t.  :)

Watching and listening to Judy singing 'If I had a Ribbon Bow' (along with 'Reno, Nevada' with Fairport) was one of my festival (and indeed Cropredy) highlights. Such a gentle, beautiful voice - so evocative of the sixties. Thanks Judy for making someone who was sadly too young to be there the first time round a very happy chap...! Wonderful.

The sound was brilliant at the front, Judy and band and in the main set are already in my favourite Cropredy performances.

I spoke to Jude in the flesh for the first time ever on the night before, and I told her I was intending to ask if she was going to play certain material, but decided not to and she said 'Yes, just wait and see', so it was nice to be surprised by three of them - If I Had A Ribbon Bow, Harp Song and I Talk To The Wind all in a row. No See Emily Play - but maybe next time.
I had to listen to the first half while sorting out some food, but joined Nick down the front for the rest, where I found out his tallness was obscuring son of Jude, who I had met before, thankfully - he unknowingly saved my bacon - not ACTUAL bacon, you understand - so thanks for that and belated happy birthday.
A real treat of a set - and about time too !
