I'm not treally up with this - but I saw some headline that said "military Wives v ZXFactor", so I'm guessing they've released a Christmas single?

If they sound good, why not?

Depends on which ones you mean. Simon Cowells lot or the real life ones...

...ZXFactor...

I'm guessing that Simon Cowell is aiming to cover a whole Spectrum of possibilities then?  Or at least 81, though I can only C5.

I'll get my coat.

This is Gareth Malone's latest venture.  The man is a genius in the way he teaches and motivates people with music.  I'll go "yes".

Should military men be allowed to have wives?  Certainly not!   ;D

Not sure what the question is really? Anything to do with the Decemberists?

I enjoyed the series and find Gareth Malone to be an engaging and seemingly genuine bloke. His previous choirs have also been good to watch.

As for the single, anything that keeps X Factor off the number 1 is fine by me.

Simple question, what is your opinion?
Yes, I believe men in the military are certainly entitled to have wives.

But who's wives?

But who's wives?

That should be "who are wives?", Colin.   ;)

Blah! To you lot!
Yes a choir of servicemen's wives put together by gareth malone currently challenging for the xmas no1 slot. I wondered what people' opinion was of them musically, of the single.
I think it's awful.
But it carries the emotional xmas card like a brucie game-show.

I'm in a choir in work and we often join up with another from Pontypridd, the Tenovus "Sing for Life" choir, which consists of people whose lives have been affected by cancer. http://www.tenovus.com/how-we-can-help-you/our-sing-for-life-choir.aspx It's truly humbling to see someone who thought they had nothing to live for, finally get up and sing a solo with enthusiasm and energy. In every rehearsal there are tears, hugs and people overcoming the odds and moving their lives forward to places they never thought they would be able to go.  :'(

My choir also sang at the Albert Hall, after a long "journey" (I won't say a rollercoaster ride!  ::) ) and the feeling of achievement was amazing, I can honestly say it was the best day of my life.

I would love to see the Military Wives at number 1, at least they're making money for a good cause, rather than Simon Cowell's pension pot.

It's the back story that makes it a winner for me. Good cause too.

Excellent! But why did it take for me to say ' I think it sounds awful' (regardless of the sentiment), for anyone to have an actual opinion! Yes bring it on for xmas no1 over x-factor but I didn't think it was good.
(Ducking rotten eggs and tomatoes and heartfelt opinions).
Sorry.
My family has army history too.

to me they sounded more like an overwommened version of bananarama rather than a proper choir but fair play to them for having a go
i neither know nor care about who or what is No1 Top of The Pops and haven't done for many years so whosoever reaches the No1 slot in the hit parade does not affct me in the least
the malone lad is quite good value

Ahh right - I genuinely had no idea what the question was about. I've never heard it, or of it, so have no opinion  (It sounds as if it might be a bit grueome though, although as mentioned, anything is better than Simon Cowell's latest offering.)

Never heard of them. Never heard of Gareth Malone either. So no opinion except that I don't usually like these sort of artificial, packaged thingies.

I only opened the thread because I thought it might be something similar to readers wives.  ::) ;D ;D

Still, if it gets to number one and annoys Cowell even a teensy bit, then fair enough.

Terrible. All the worse for it's espousal by Chris Evans.
