Not telling Sian.  You have to guess.

You got it wrong Abby.

The suicide slot starts when I'm about two and a half songs in.

There's another sponsorship thought - the Co-op Funeral Service, from boom box to pine box.....

I think we're at High Barn on the 18th September, but would be pleased to do the Acorn if we're allowed a third go at it and it doesn't clash. We could bring a drummer and give it some extra welly if you like.

Last year's Acorn Fayre was our second favourite weekend of the year.

Delighted it is being repeated.

Given my lack of skill in anything musical I won't volunteer for anything in that line but will be delighted to help in any other way.

Sandra

ps CAN we have it over two nights (Fri & Sat) please? Pretty please? Even if we just sit round nattering with a few toons on Fri.

I'm absolutely chuffed to be able to make it this year having been in the line up the first time around in Taxi Hailer form. The line up looks great. If I could have the usual alcohol and women back stage Abby, that will be fine.

There is lots of alcohol and many women back stage - that's the camp site.

Brill, bring your handbag, Hicks.  Carpark, 7:30.  ;D

And you're spot on, Nick.  It isn't just the women that will be in short supply, Hicksy doesn't look old enough to fool a barman, so, Abby, revise his rider to read lemonade, a bag of ready-salted and a recent copy of the beano.  ;D

I'll just have the usual, please.  ::)

It's that sort of a place Andy.  ;D ;D ;D

Up the road to nowhere and up the back of beyond. It's truly lovely.

Despite their early reservations the locals took to an invasion of long haired hippies well within their stride, and the pub landlady could not have been more helpful.

Can I also chuck my vote in for a two dayer?

Even if we start lateish on Friday, it gives time for everyone to arrive before kicking off the music on the Sat as last year, I remember rushing from Derby (my fault, I overslept) and not having a huge amount of time to sort stuff out before we ended up on stage.

Make sure you go the right way Shelley and don't get stuck on Shap!  ;D

Actually, given the number of artists already discussed and the logistics difficulties that people had last year travelling on the day, a Friday night singaround and an early Saturday start would make a lot of sense, as well as giving the pub even more trade.

anybody played with the website yet?  http://www.acornfayre.org.uk/, it's not finished yet, but it's running and the band links work and i'm quite chuffed so far, hopefully get the rest finished today and it'll have directions and local b&b's, and phone numbers and emails, and get the ticket counter going and just tidy it about a little..
thanks adrian for sorting the hosting out for us still, and for letting us mess you about last night while you were supposed to be working. ;)

sorry matt, you're still not on the site, but you are on the posters, and tomorrow the web thing will be finished, with ticket counter and all kinds of stuff, but carl had to play his xbox before we were allowed to get going..

and until another tbc says deffo, we have a couple of tbc's pending..

ticket info is running now, though not that tidy, maybe never will be, but all is functional, hope that'll do..

anyone want to help with a radio station? all interwebbish?

blimey, just read back through the thread, we really are a pair of chancers aren't we?!!
the site should be well finished by now, i guess it'll always be ready for a bit of tinkering..
sorry.

but the weekend will be ace, no worries!! ;D ;D

hey anna, we could have come in but we chose not to - £56 per person at 6pm saturday was just outrageous in our opinion, given that under normal circumstances we wouldn't have paid a fiver for either nik kershaw or ralph and ok there was yusef but 56 quid to see FC do almost the same set was too much.
so we  had a lovely evening on the fringe.

Do the bands play in the pub, or is there an outdoor stage?

Is the site suitable for a medium size dog? We could put him in kennels if not.

Ring Around The Land
(Carolyn Evans) ã Red Shoes 2009

Opening sequence:

D                           E                            A

Chorus:

A
And May is here again
                  E
Our town will cheer again
             D             E                A
And we’ll all pull together hand in hand
A
To and fro we’ll pass the bow
            E
Summer seed’s we’ll surely sow
         D                E                    A
Bright blessings will ring around the land

Verse:

A     D                     E
We’ll weave our silken ribbons
     A                      D
Of white and red and blue
      D                     E
And hand in hand on mossy ground
     A                      D
The sun will shine on through
     D             E
Forgive me if I kiss you
       A                     D
Your brow is soft and sweet
      D           E                A
Pale linen will fall upon our feet

Chorus:
A       D                      E
What pattern’s shall we make dear
   A              D
A tapestry of love
      D           E
This canopy above our heads
               A                 D
What must I be thinking of
           D             E
I may even let you touch me
          A                   D
If you promise me one thing
D                        E                  A
When our dance is over, wear my ring

Chorus:

A      D                       E
And when the night has fallen
      A                D
And you lie in my arms
       D                   E
We’ll hear the lark a calling
   A                 D
A song of silver charms
    D                 E
I’ll put away my ribbons
  A              D
Until another year
   D                      E               A
Adieu my friend and not another tear

Chorus:

Me too, Bill, was it at High Barn?  But there's no doubt that you give good pillock.....  ;D

Oh, and Carolyn, your list pretty well covers 100% of the likely audience, so the stage will be very crowded, but the tent will be otherwise empty - although a musical procession a la Tim Van Eyken might work too.

yes, there is a running order (STC of course :P), and the reason peeps who bought tickets early on didn't get their badge with their ticket is simply that they hadn't arrived yet.

i've discovered that this internet stuff is still way beyond my brain space..
all i can manage for now is to say if you go to flickr and search 'acorn 2009 poster final'
that will hopefully bring up a small, low resolution copy of the poster..
now i'll see what else i can do..
may take me some time though..

is apparently the link, but i don't trust it to work... :(

The pub is great, do excellent meals and last year breakfasts. Showers and toilets, not sure about space for the big tent, there was plenty of room last year but more people going this time. No more tizzying!

As Miguel says meals in the pub are great. You can either use the dining room or eat in the pub itself for lunch/dinner. Not sure where they served breakfast as we did not partake.

I didn't know there were showers last year, though, so note to self to take more notice this year.

Absolutely and rest it as much as possible. Don't try and sing without lots of warming up. Even if you think it's ok, you can do serious longterm damage.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/may/10/voice-muscles-warm-up is an article written by my choir's musical director on warming up. If you feel silly doing it, just imagine being filmed whilst panting like a labrador... Luckily the clip wasn't used but I still don't feel comfortable knowing it's out there... :-\

Hope your voice recovers soon!

The pub do a good deal and I think the idea is that we use them for most catering to offest the hire costs.

Last year they did roast pork sandwiches for us as well as their normal lunch and dinner menu, and also offered breakfasts.

My offer was to those who have known and loved the produce for the deli stall to ship supplies to them. The pork pies will be used to soak up the drink once the pub has closed, though, I suspect.

Would be nice to have  a second option though Frog.

we don't have a 'deal' with the pub regarding food, they will have their normal menu plus extras (bbq if it's nice, hot beef or pork rolls if it's a bit chilly plus brekkies sat and sun), i suspect it would be ok, they won't mind 'camping food' after the restaurant closes, but i do feel it would be a tad rude to fire up and start selling stuff whilst they are open.

sandra, what was that lovely stuff you brought to BD's the second year, i'm sure it was some kind of pie that had olives in it..........and antipasto please...........kabanos, prosciuttio, olives...................mmmmmmmm

FRIDAY, young rich, clara kousah, green diesel, donnybrook fair, red shoes, and airport contention.

SATURDAY afternoon, cobbled together, platypus, steve parker, landslide, and david stevenson.

SATURDAY evening, reverend drivetrain, union circus, songs from the blue house, rev hammer, and something nasty in the woodshed.

jones on the line..

in answer to mr leslie, and for all those eager to know..
we're hoping the weekend will look something like this..
friday
1200, set up, meet, greet, jam, and drink.
500, young rich, bloke from our local pub, buddy holly-centric guitarist.
600, clara kousah, returns from last year, cos i liked her. no banjo's as yet..
700, green diesel, bunch of fiddlers with a girly vocalist, mike b's mates i think..
800, donnybrook fair, irish folk bunch, accordian, guitars, fiddles, and the weekends first banjo!
915, red shoes, carline and mark, back from a recent radio do, caroline likes brandy.
1045, airport contention, a tribute to some old hippies or other, actually, very very good.
saturday afternoon
1200, cobbled together, mark b, ollie, and leila, this time they've been rehearsing!
100, platypus, fat billy and others, apparently they're 'odd'..?
200, steve parker, yet another returnee, very nice singer songwriter from leicester, employs goatboy as his chauffeur, so he must be famous..
300, landslide, we met these at our local too, a duo, who do a very good 'who knows were the time goes'..
400, mr david stevenson, no bagpipes, but a very odd accent indeed..
saturday evening
515, reverend drivetrain, southern blues, hopefully not too loudly, they promised to be acousic-ish.. expect more banjo's..
615, union circus, mr hicks and his familiar promise to make up for missing last year.
730, the blue house, and the songs therein, we just can't stop them turning up, so we thought we may as well stick 'em on the bill again, and another banjo alert..
900, rev hammer, well, we like him, even if you lot went outside for a fag when he played at acorn one, don't think he'll be doing freeborn john in it's entirety, but never mind..
1030, the woodshed!, every time we see them, they get louder, which is a bit worrying, as we're only in a tent in the back garden of a pub, bagpips, banjo's, bass, blimey!
we also have outdoor skittles, a conker showdown, a barbecue, leather stall, guess the weight of the drunk, and quite possibly dave boyfish and the wheel playing us out on sunday..
all in all, far too much for the money, and time, and space..
cheers.
still more tickets if anyone can't keep away now..

The 125 bus leaves Bedford at 09:00 and gets to Yielden High Street 09:49, calling at Clapham Road, Pavenham old post office, Carlton Fox, Knotting village and Melchbourne. There are then buses every two hours until three o'clock, and then at 16:25 and 17:55.

I'm not sure how much to take though. Any ideas, anyone?

Ugh. Family trouble again, which means I'll almost certainly be turning up with my dad and brother rather than my mum... Really not in the mood for going, but I'm hoping things will improve as the miles between Mum and me increase in number. Grah.

Firstly, what a great weekend. Thanks to Abby and Andy for organising it, Mark and Paul for sorting the PA and lights, Steve the compere and everyone who pitched in on Friday morning to build a stage from pallets and hardboard.

All the artists were bloody marvellous. A special mention to Olly 'The Baked Bean' for standing in at short notice on two occasions when artists had failed to arrive. On the second occasion he was joined by Mike B and both sets were fantastic given the five minute notice they had to throw them together. Nice one fellas.

****A public apology to Songs From The Blue House****

The gremlins got in the system at some point and we're not entirely sure why. I'm disappointed in myself that we didn't sort it quickly and feel that we let you down a bit. Rest assured though, the sound at the front was a lot better than what you were hearing on stage. You were as good as always.

Another glass please for David Stevenson who not only played marvellously well in very difficult circumstances for him but he also managed to reduce at least one sound man (me) to tears during one song and I've just listened to Unfinished Lace and it's fair fantastic so it is.

It really is very difficult to single out any particular artist, the standard was first class and I watched every single minute of every one. Nice to see some young people playing folky stuff, Green Diesel from Kent were terrific, find them online and check em out and of course Olly, Leila and Mike. Clara Kousah was excellent again and I saw Union Circus and Red Shoes for the first time, fantastic stuff.

Airport Contention rounded it all off on Friday and did a blindingly good set faithfully recreating some very special songs.

Something Nasty In The Woodshed are a fab live act, they got the crowd bouncing around like lunatics, there are some people on this board who will witness how silly they are when dancing as soon as Simmo uploads the vid. Great stuff.

****General Observations****

You're all a very nice bunch of people.

A sound desk is run on Cider.

Whisky provided by strange welshmen helps.

Matt Hicks is really funny when he's had a few beers and can't walk in a straight line.

Comment of the weekend overheard: 'It's like a room full of walking avatars'.

The merchandise was top notch.

There is nothing worse than a post festival come down.

Anyway, back to the real world............. :'(

It was indeed a great weekend, especially after the day from hell trying to get there!  Abby and Andy did a cracking job, as did everyone I saw play.  Thanks to those who had good things to say about our set, it really means a lot.  Just a shame we couldn't stay longer on Saturday.

Special mention goes to Airport Contention who were far better than I ever expected and a great way to round off Friday.  Particularly their version of Sloth.  Got to admit I was slightly dubious when they started it off, but it was a brilliant version.  Top marks!

Maybe just as well you didn't!

Well now that I feel a bit more human I can say a bit more about this fantastic weekend.

Arrived sat afternoon and was sad to hear that I had missed a great session on the friday. On arrival I found a rather nervous Abby and Andy looking very unconvinced that they were going to pull it of. Gradually they relaxed as they realised that it was working very well. So relaxed infact that Abby managed to fall asleep right through the Woodshed set with her feet practically rested on the stage.

I have to say that there were no particular highlights from a watching perspective as everyone was so bloody good. I'll even concede that the bagpipe playing was ok. I would also like to say that the heroes of the day were that curly locked rascal Miguel and Mark who really provided great sound egineering. Big highlight for me was playing what I felt was our best performance yet with a fantastic crowd and atomosphere. If I never do another gig I can be happy that I've played my dream gig.

Proper Miguel style, here are my general observations:

Ollie and Mike B are marathon music performers

Young Ollie is annoyingly talented.

When you fall over backwards midstream, there is a reflex that stops you peeing.

When you fall over backwards into stinging nettles when drunk it doesn't hurt but does in the morning.

Conkers is a little boring to watch when you're not the one playing.

James Partridges' beer is rather nice but he's a **** front man!!!!!!! (ahem, joke)

Lets do it again next year when I intend to break the record for the number of hugs dished out in 5 minutes.

Title: Re: acorn fayre 2009
Post by: Miguel Cajon (Mick) on September 21, 2009, 07:27:59 AM
Nice one Hicks.

2am Sunday, Hicks to everyone: 'Right, someone give me fag'. Meanwhile in the background Jones and his mate had the longest game of conkers ever. Neither could hit the other. It went on for hours. I went to bed as Matt walked very unsteadily up the field towards the camp fire where Ollie could be heard playing traditional folk tunes on a shopping trolley (he'd learnt to play it that very morning)......

This year was a classic for quotes. I hope someone was jotting them down.  My own personal favourites were:

On stage after Matt Rawlins had delivered yet another joke at my expense, I said,

"There's a name for people like you!"

At which many in the audience said "Yes. It's Matt".

My own personal verbal cock up was telling Hellen Mulley how fortunate it was she didn't have a hole in her jeans in the same place that James did.

I'm sure there were more ofcourse. Many of which I wouldn't remember but which has been slyly stored in the memories of others.

What can I say? A splendid weekend. Well done to everyone who made it happen, especially Abby and Andy.

(Sorry I left so early on Sunday morning, but I had a beer festival to rush back to. Some complete git phoned me to say the Sarah Hughes was running out and I had better get there fast. In the event there was plenty left. Phew.)

No-one warned me there would be bagpipes!

This year was a classic for quotes. I hope someone was jotting them down.

I walked into the pub to find a triumvirate of Lady Tawers discussing something of obvious importance regarding the battle of the sexes and they beckoned me over to help contribute to the discussion;
{:-); Skirky, can we ask you a question?
[;-); Certainly ladies, what can I do to help?
{:-); Do you f**t in bed?
 [;-); Certainly not!
 {:-); I thought so...another bloody liar...

I wonder who that could posibly have been...?? ;) ;)

The research continued and the consensus was that those who say they don't really are liars!

It was a FAB day for me..  will deff br there for the whole weekend next year.

Personal highlights...  just being there with you lot, loads of hugs, kind words that helped me to forget the shittiest week for a long time,
great music.. can't pick out a fave.. all great, great chips (!!), watching everyone having such a fab time,
buying a new purse to replace the stolen one, and just everything.. oh not forgetting the weather  8)

Has Abby woken up yet?

Oh yes... and who gave me this bloody cold!?

A consensus which I'm sure you agreed should apply to either gender...  ;)

http://www.smellypoop.com/facts_on_farts.php

Enlightened reading! I particularly liked this bit:

Quote
Why do chicks always deny farting?
    (Question submitted by Kevin C.)

I suppose I should start by saying that only some chicks deny farting. The rest of us acknowledge our gaseous accomplishments with pride.
However, a great many sisters do deny farting. The reason is that they have been misled into thinking that farts are not ladylike. It is a great mistake to say that farting is not ladylike. The reason is that all people f**t, including ladies. Anything that ladies do is by definition ladylike, and that includes the emission of anal gases.

 :)

Anyway, glad you all seem to have enjoyed Acorn Fayre! Well done Abby and Andy  {:-)  [;-)  :-*

Next year, when the van is commissioned properly and the workload is back down to normal levels, we shall be there.

Cheers

Nick

My own personal verbal cock up was telling Hellen Mulley how fortunate it was she didn't have a hole in her jeans in the same place that James did.

Terrible faux pas -- she almost certainly *does* have a pair of jeans in that condition  :D

nick, we're not there anymore, no matter how soon the van is done we're not there.
firstly, personal, and very humble apologies to mick, mark and paul for making their weekend a nightmare, next time i'll remember to take some phone numbers with me.
secondly, absofloppinglutely million biggest hugs, cheers, toasts, waves, grins, and beers to everybody who came and made this the best weekend we could have hoped for, more photo's please, and i can't wait for simmo to sort out the footage, it's going to be great to see all the bits i missed due to running around like a blue headed chicken for most of friday, and not enough of saturday..
highlight? watching drew put the finishing touches to the stage which wasn't there with about half an hour to go to curtain up.
mr stevenson again, esp in still iffy circumstances.
rev noting that there is a man behind every woman's head.
green diesel making life hell, but then playing a blinder, more than compensation, thanks.
the matts clearly despising each other so publicly and naturally, should change their names to eric and ernie.
..
before this times out i'll post, back in two, too much to remember without another cuppa..

abby here, just to say, falling asleep early in stupid places has it's advantages as well as it's disadvantages, a)  it wasn't me making any of the racket at dawn on sunday and b)  i didn't have a hangover sunday morning  :D

here's andy again............

quote of the weekend for me, apart from mr hicks tale of the damping of the hedge, young rich upon seeing adrian sunday morning, -
"how many heads has that man got?"

more highlights? knowing that all six pumps in the pub had ran dry at the same time, moving from nearest to the door, in sequence, to the furthest, nice work fellas.
blue house soundchecking with as many eighties medleys as can possibly be legal.
red shoes ring around the land with the entire audience joining in.
red shoes daughter megan running the merch for pretty much the entire weekend, with only one wee break. ???
frog being so bloody happy, ollie being so bloody smart, mikeb's voice being so much less excitable, sandra's pies having "more meat than an air rifle" according to abby on sunday morning.
ewen for smiling all through, karl for heckling all through, all the free cd's i came home with, and woodshed, woodshed, woodshed!
(even though they were still in a pub in sheffield at half six on saturday evening, cheers pastie..)

and more, but i'm going to read and look and find other's opinions for a while now as i want to smile and feel smug for a bit.

cheers all! and again, sorry, thanks, see you next time! (help?) ;D

Hello everyone, this is Jerry, from Airport Contention.

Just wanted to say hello and thanks for a warm welcome at Acorn Fayre on Friday night. Thanks also for the kind comments on this forum.

We enjoyed ourselves and hope to see you all again some time (although next time I think I'll stay over — got back home to Devon at 4.30am!)

May well be at Cropredy in 2010, so say hello if you see any of us.

Jenny (and Ollie, though not the Friday bit. Which is still true, but at least I remember spending time in your presence) - I don't remember much of Friday, so the cold might be my fault...

'Twas a good weekend. Every set I played in, I messed up at least a bit, but apparently not everyone noticed, so it must be ok... The other bands were good - I especially liked the Saturday lot, though that may be partially because we missed most of the Friday ones.

Now I've slept and recovered a bit, I'll add to my original "well that was rather good" type post with some of my highlights in no particular order...

The sheer variety of food that Sandra could produce from the campervan!
Andy hiring out Fraser to hug on his behalf.
Ollie being the most hated person there! ;)
Dancing like a loon! :) (and it being mentioned that I have more enthusiasm than style in my dancing!  ;D )
Frog's family cooking burgers at whatever time that was!
Learning Eminor on the ukelele! (I am BRILLIANT at E minor! As long as that's the only chord in the song...) And seriously awesome of Puggs to have brought ukes for all in the circumstances!
Songs from the Blue House. Even without the best sound, you were fab!!
James SftBH starting a dance craze... ;)
David Stevenson. Made me cry in a good way.
Carrying a tray of drinks and not dropping them despite Andy Leslie's attempts to tickle me!!! :p
Something Nasty in the Woodshed being the perfect end to the lineup. More bouncing!!! :)
MikeB playing Meet on the Ledge for us all to have the end of night emotional singsong!

Loads of other things. Can't thank everyone enough. It was so lovely to meet some more TAWers in real life and see the ones I'd already met again.

And seriously, can we ever say enough thank yous to Abby, Andy, Mark, Mick, Paul etc?
xxx

Right now I have a small reasonable amount of time on my hands to post, my reviews of the bands I saw.

Cobbled Together- In a word or two should no longer call themselves cobbled together. Very tight musically with obvious talent. Ollie seems to be able to play anything under the sun which is a little sickening but lovely to see someone so young have such an obviously bright musical future. Mike B has obvious stage presence and sung, played with great feeling. Another obvious talent. I'm afraid I don't know the name of the young lady playing the whilste but she was very very very good.

Platypus- Quite a surprise after hearing Fat Billy play them down alot before they went on. I believe this was one of their first live aiirings and I have to say it was not a dissappointment. Eeveryone was enjoying themselves. Ron had a fantastic voice and the musical playing was very tight indeed.

I really enjoyed Steve Parker- Something very seasoned and experienced about this songwriter with a great similarity to Nick Drake.

Mr Stevenson- Never fails to dissappoint (kidding) I meant never fails to please despite feeling the pits of depression by the end of his set. David, I hate to admit it, is one of my favourite song writers and it is also a real pleasure to see him live. I had to find it a bit amusing when he arrived and opened his boot to reveal a sea of Taylors and Lowden guitars and promptly said "####, I've brought the wrong guitar!" at which I humbling looked down at my low end takemine and raised an eyebrow or two. I'm also a little relieved that he did not have to use the portaloo provided on stage.

Union Circus- What can I say. Quite pleased with our gig but Matt R really came into his own. After about three years of letting me do all the one liners and funnies on stage, he was comfortable enough to promptly nick them and use them himself for which he got just credit. The highlight for us recently has been being called the Morcambe and Wise of folk. My friends we have arrived.

Songs From The Blue House- Always a pleasure. I don't think I have ever seen so many people staring hard at a hole in someones jeans before! It just simply amazed me how such a well populated band can have such a tight sound. Highlights? The songs, the harmonies all the musicians, Hellens boots, the very very funny banter. I would have paid alot to have seen them that night.

Something Nasty in the woodshed- Simply brilliant although I have to say I initially had a bit of a phobia about the bagpipes in a marquee. Very unique sound, stage presence and air about them. Great.

I haven't forgotten anyone have I?

Someone who mistakenly thinks it's ok to drive stoned?

Or perhaps it was a satirical side-swipe at modern social mores, delivered with a timing and precision that would make Eric Morecambe himself blush with inferiority?  :P

That's exactly how I heard it! :)

You can share albums on facebook without everyone having to be a member - it's just that the album's owner has to give out the link as no-one else should be able to see it

I think what Leila is saying is, that if the album's owner posts the link themselves, then non members can view the pics.

e.g. on my page, I have this message:

Share this album with anyone by sending them this public link:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2019933&id=1532403908&l=54bec63f6f

so see if it works

Surely Pegg Numbers don't apply retrospectively. You have to have played with a person who *has* played with......who *has* played with Peggy.

Already there.

The criteria here being that people should have played together, either on the same song recording (album track) or on the same live song - I am rejecting same album, different song or same stage, different song or songwriting or producing links.

The way I read it - if you've played live with him, stage or a studio recording, you have a pegg number of 1.
If you have played live with someone who has a Pegg number of 1 you have a Pegg no of 2.

Or am I completely barking?

Right, here goes. [Part 1]
Arrived at Acorn Fayre at about 7.30 pm. We were greeted by Abby, whose first words were "**** off Carrot"
Parked up, and got everything sorted. The weather was perfect [for the whole weekend] as I walked the three miles from the van to the marquee. ;D
I met some of the usual suspects, who were all having a great time. Armed with my trusty camera, I went in search of victims to shoot,  :D and continued to do that all weekend. I had no idea how many photos I took until I got home. There are hundreds of them. :o I am open to bribes to not post them. ;)
Everybody was getting more and more "refreshed" as the day continued [refreshed as bloody newts, more like. ;D] By the end of the night, Steve was having problems with his knees, and needed to be supported. ;D

Title: Re: acorn fayre 2009
Post by: frogcrutches on September 24, 2009, 09:50:43 PM
[Part 2]
After the music had finished on Friday night, a few of the usual suspects started playing various instruments. I remember telling Ollie that I hated him [this continued over the weekend] The little git can play anything, and it's just not fair. >:(  This went on for quite a while, but, I have no idea how long. Perhaps it was something I ate? ;D
After a great day, we returned to the van. It was always interesting going back to the van over the weekend, as I never knew who would be in it. We had many visitations over the weekend. ;D We eventually decided to go to bed just after 7am. :o As Carrot was  getting ready to go to bed, she announced that she had lost her foot. ;D After much laughter, we discovered that she meant sock. ;D That was Friday night/ Saturday morning finished.

Title: Re: acorn fayre 2009
Post by: frogcrutches on September 24, 2009, 10:13:32 PM
[Part 3]
Saturday afternoon, and members of Pongs from the Poo House started to arrive. Helen and Dolly went off to make an erection. After this, Dolly looked a bit hot and bothered. We had a chat, and very soon, Dolly asked me if I wanted to play with his tits. He knows that I can never resist, and I can comfirm that he's got a fine set of norks.
Various other people arrived during the day, and many more visitations to the van occured. The whole vibe was fantastic, and it was enjoyable to watch everyone having a great time. The people who performed over the weekend were also in the audience, and there was a feel of mutual respect for eachother, and taking photos of eachother as they played.
Time flew, and it was soon the end of the music, though, not the end of the weekend.........

[Part 4]
After the music had finished, people sat around, drinking, smoking, talking etc.
A young bloke asked me where I was from, as he recognised my accent. I told him, and it turned out that his father is my dentist [who I saw today, and we talked about it]
One of the members of the gathering, was a certain Matt Hicks, who was, shall we say, f*****g bolloxed. ;D  He later announced that he was going back to his tent, and staggered off. I commented as he left that he will head for the nearest light, which he did, which happened to be our van. Carrot was on the van cooking burgers, and, I don't know what was said, but Matt turned round, and staggered to the next nearest light, ;D Some time later, Matt returned to tell us that he couldn't find his tent. ;D
After everyone had finished drinking etc. I returned to the van, and we continued to party. This went on for a while, and we went to bed at about 8am.
On Sunday, before we left, I had a chat with the stall holder, who was the person that I borrowed HB's rider from. ;D He told me that he used to go to the Edinburgh festival every year, and one year, he saw some people doing Macbeth on a trampoline. ;D That finished off a great weekend.
There's probably a lot more that I could post, but I'm sure that I've already bored everyone rigid. ;D

Thanks for a great evening, we had a hoot and left with smiles on our faces which is what it is all about. The closing twenty minutes was remininsant of "Zulu" as the bodies piled ever higher around the stage......yet through the mist of battle one man remained standing like a rock. KARLHIPPY! Ok a grinning, wobbly rock perhaps but a hero none the less. The man laughs in the face of gravity!

Hi all!

I just thought I'd pop in and say hello and what a pleasure it was to meet so many of you last weekend.   :)

Loved all the bands!  Most memorably Red Shoes (Balls of steel to start on a song you'd just learnt, nice one), Union Circus (I might need another copy of the CD 'cos I think we are wearing this one out in the car!), Songs from the Blue house were awesome even WITH the Porridge... and Clara Kousah was very memorable too... ahem.  ('Shame she couldn't stay really' he thinks wistfully)  :-[ .

Oh and count me in on the 'we hate Olly cos he's too talented for a man his age and we're jealous' club.

ANYWAY, before I embarrass myself completely on my first TAW post... I'll make a sly exit out the side door.

Cheers all,

Grant x

Welcome to TAW Grant, don't slide away, stay and keep nattering..

As you have an 'anonymous' tag under your name, you should be able to see a topic about Anonymousness on the Home Page of TAW, go and have a read and it will tell you how to become unanonymoused..

But I must admit, being a Southend boy myself originally...  :-\ I am not quite sure where Posh South Essex is... since there isn't anywhere much further south than Southend and well.. Dagenham and Grays don't really cut that description either!?

Thanks for a great evening, we had a hoot and left with smiles on our faces which is what it is all about. The closing twenty minutes was remininsant of "Zulu" as the bodies piled ever higher around the stage......yet through the mist of battle one man remained standing like a rock. KARLHIPPY! Ok a grinning, wobbly rock perhaps but a hero none the less. The man laughs in the face of gravity!

Many many thanks to Andy and Abby (honest Abby we did turn up!), See you at Banbury.

Simmo's a TAWer but I'll send him an email.

I just watched it in HQ mode and the sound was a lot better, so it might be Youtube's fault.
