Worthing as always. Probably on my lonesome this year. I must check the date and organise a ticket. From what I remember they have gone back to playing the Assembly Hall this year. far more suitable than the Pavillion. I just hope there is a decent sized audience. It seems to have been diminishing for the Worthing gig in recent years.

The delightful and ancient city of Canterbury, and the not quite so delightful or ancient city of Croydon (hmmm!), for us this time.  Happy wintour to all fellow travellers, there and elswhere.

High Wycombe, as there is no Basingstoke on the list this year. But, sorry, Ulla, I don't know if there are any good pubs there as you asked in the OP.

Currently in the diary.....

Tewkesbury, Wycombe (must get a ticket!), Wellingborough, Leamington, Chesterfield, Croydon & Birmingham.

Possible others -

Winchester, Pontardawe, Ryde, Edinburgh, Inverness - reverse the order for the more likely. That'll be the usual dozen!

I'll have to make an effort to turn out then.
What's the parking like? I hate having to find somewhere to park when I'm on my own.

If it's the assembly halls there is parking just outside. If it is the pavillion, then it is a bit of a stroll down the sea front.

Shame it's not the pavillion - my uncle was scattered off the end of the pier and I usually say hello to him when I'm there.

What day is it? I may try and get there if it's a weekend and I'm not singing.

Winchester would be the easier drive though. Why have they stopped doing South Parade Pier Southsea?

Haven't got a ticket yet - not sure if it's wise on a school night.

Won't be going to that one then. It's a pretty fowl drive to Worthing from here.

There is all sorts of stuff scattered off the end of the pier at the moment, mostly huge piles of timber! Pretty spectacular to see. Check out the Worthing Herald website for pics (sorry I can't do links  :-[).

As for the Assembly Hall, there is a big car park right next door. Free in the evenings. It is a much better venue than the Pavilion for music. Incidentally I was in the Pavilion last night and the sound was nearly drowned out by the noise of the timber smacking into the pier. Very dramatic and slightly alarming!

Saw all that on the news.. impressive!!

I do indeed. I am much in the same boat. February is shaping up as a month of unforeseen expenses. Still hope to get to see the Chaps though. Early birthday present for myself.

All that sea-soaked lumber will have probably made its own way round the coast to Cleethorpes by then.

So tonights the first night! I wish the lads good luck and look forwards to seeing them on Sunday- Just don't let it snow! My 9 year old will be devastated if we can't get there!  Mindyou so will I...This is her first proper concert of this type and she is so excited! ;D

Snow should be gone by Sunday, allegedly. I wonder if they will play Close To The Wind tonight?  ;)

Finally got round to ordering ticket for Brum Town Hall.  Stalls seat L 17.  Now to get badger folks for a pre show meet up!  ;D ;D (BD style  ;))

Why do you want to meet up with a badger? They have very sharp claws and rarely get their round in!

BD has asked me to think of suggestions for a place to meet up. You do have the weatherspoons where we all met for Peggys bash but methinks it does not have much personality, so i thought maybe the Tap and Spile just off Broad Street and it is only about 5 mins walk from the town hall. Any takers. (or a better suggestion ;))

On the strength of the changing set list, we've booked for Canterbury on the 16th.  Just the two of us this time.  Never been twice on a tour before.  It'll be a great way to finish off half term. ;D

Seriously looking forward to it - the St Albans gig was great but a bit ragged in places - only to be expected on day 2. It'll be fantastic to see them well into their stride with the rough edges smoothed off!

I may be at Edinburgh. Not sure if I am free that night but will check the calendar when I get back from this class.

Just ordered 2 tix for Birmingham Town Hall for me & "Fairport virgin" mate - he's had a copy of L&L for years, but has never seen the chaps live.  We couldn't persuade our lady wives to come with us though... hopefully, we'll get to the Tap & Spile in time for a swift beer (or two).  ;D  ;D

I may live to regret this but..... if anyone is driving to brum and needs to park there car i can get cheap car parking passes for Brindleyplace carpark which is only bout 5mins walk from Town hall. Top of my head they are one English pound for 6 hours parking, if anyone is interested IM me with details and i will be able to pop them in the post for you.

Ah well Mike, I won't be there this time around sorry, but did have a pint in there on Saturday! No Mini-cheddars on a Saturday though  ;D ;D

Just a quick one to let people know if you are coming to Brum on Friday, Broad street is closed due to the Labour conferance at the ICC/Symph Hall. Access to Brindley Place for parking food etc. is through the back streets such as Sheepcote Street. Pubs and everything else open as normal.  ;D

Simon, you don't happen to know if Broad Street is closed to pedestrians do you?  Only I usually get a train to Five Ways and walk down Broad Street to get to the Town Hall.  Obviously if it's closed then that might be something of a flawed plan!

H i Greg, nope its just closed to all vehicles bar the police etc. You can still walk along Broad Street, you just wont be able to walk through the Symphony Hall.

Ok, for you folks attending Brum Town Hall tonght some advice and warnings....

Firstly as i said above Broad Street is closed and it is affecting traffic and it is and will be heavy! If you were intending to park in the car park by the Symphony Hall and the Rep, you cant cos it is closed to the public. Bullring and Brindleyplace carpark are open as normal.

For those coming in by train, i have been informed that police are carrying out random bag searches so you might want to expect this. Also they are doing random bag searches on Broad St as well, mainly for back packs etc.
For you photographers out there i would advise you dont take any photos of the symphony hall or the Hyatt hotel(where all the big wigs are staying). Today and yesterday i have seen a few people taking photos and the pollice have asked them to delete the photo or have confiscated the film  :o

Basically Brum is on 'High Alert' so give your self plenty of time for jouneys or anyhing else you had planned.

I have never seen so many police in one place.  :o

.....Better bring me riot gear just in case then................

Probably wise, i was walking past the Symph hall past the Police and unwisely decided to reach into my inside coat pocket for my cigarettes. The police looked a bit twitchy for a bit, but then they realised i coudnt do much damage with 20 camels.  ;D

The reason for the police is the Labour Party spring conferance at the ICC/Symph Hall, with our glorious leader Mr Brown in attendance. Its not so bad in town but you will notice them when you get to Broad Street.  :o
