Title: Linlithgow Folk Festival
Post by: lucienne on September 13, 2005, 02:48:18 PM
Hi everyone,
just returned from the wonderful Linlithgow folk festival.
With happy memories of Belhaven beer, swinging kilts, pipers, songs, songs, songs, more songs, beer , beer , beer .. more beer and meeting with such lovely people.
Oh yes, and then ofcourse there was Ralph  ;) supported by Eilidh Grant and her band.
Ralph was on form and seemed very relaxed.
The first night started with a Ceilidh and continued to the pubs for music and song sessions which lasted into the wee small ooers.
Sadly missed some of the workshops due to slow starts in the morning.
Spent some good leisure time wandering around Linlithgow, visiting Mary Queen of Scots palace and walking all the way rooond the loch !
And when the weather picked up we chilled out by the canal to some dulcit didgery doo
Many thanks to everyone involved in organising such a wonderful festival and for being so friendly to us Sassenachs !

Lucienne.

Hi JJ,
I dont write a set list and I'm not very good at remembering .. somehow when I'm in seventh heaven all memory disappears.
He DID do his new one though, and Cape Horn, Dreamtime, P&T .... maybe someone else will have a set list for you.

Hello Dan and Lucienne

I too had a fabulous time in Linlithgow (and I also made it to the Gospel session!).  It was lovely to meet you Dan and thanks to everyone who made this 'girl from London' feel so welcome  :-*.

I noted down Ralph's set list (most of which Dan has already mentioned):

Nettle Wine
New song - Walk into the Morning (I think)
Zig-zag line
Little Birdie
Lost Boys
Around the Wild Cape Horn
From Clare to Here
In the Dreamtime
Anji (absolutely brilliant) - (Ralph made the comment that he always gets more applause for other people's work!)
Maginot Waltz
After Rain
Streets
Up
Dry Bone Shuffle
Peppers and Tomatoes
Mr Connaughton
Glory of Love (encore)

Jess
