Title: National Forest Folk Festival
Post by: Goaty on June 27, 2005, 05:50:19 PM
It's near Ashby de la Zouch, 8th - 10th July and includes The Levellers and Vin Garbutt amongst many others, all at a not unreasonable £45 for the whole weekend.

Any other talk-a-whilers thinking about going ?

I'm toying with the idea of going.  I've booked a fortnight off, rather than fritter it away as long weekends in the late autumn as happened last year.  However, I'm toying with the idea of doing something daft, such as going to Portugal for Mostly Autumn's free concert.

Yep, that would count as daft in my books!!

Mind you, going downstairs if MA were palying a free gig in my lounge would as well.

The National Forest festival looks good though, a Saturday afternoon jaunt could be in order.

Just purchased tickets so there's definitely a few left.
In addition to the £45 for the ticket there's £4 per night camping and a £1.50 admin charge.

Just checked my off-duty at work, and I'm working that weekend - darn it!  It only takes us 15mins to drive there from home aswell.  Nevermind, can't win 'em all.

Let us know how it goes...

Well, I found the place  :o

It is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best mid sized out door concert venue I have ever been to  ;D
Couldn't face another day of relentless sun so came home a little early but will definitely go back again next year.

A few pictures for your viewing pleasure :

Did you miss all of Sunday Gout Boy :o.You missed another brilliant day.It was great venue wasnt it.The good news is that they are hoping to get this venue again next year. They normally hold the festival in the Miners Welfare Hut across the road but due to unforseen circumstances were unable to use it this year so Conkers Waterside kindlly stepped in and offered the use of their facilities .The organiser came on stage at the end and said that this could be a possibility if they can get big enough acts booked.
It was a nice festival for families as Conkers allowed the use of all their facilities throughout the festival.Have a look at their website on   www.visitconkers.com   I had a day ticket for Sunday only but this was only £10 and included the use of all the facilities you see on the Conkers website.Brilliant value .Plus I got to see Tanglefoot twice in one day .This truly was paradise!

Sadly yes, I went home Sunday morning, getting too old for this camping lark.

The venue is indeed fantastic and assuming it'll be held there again next year I'll definitely be going back.  I can't recommend the place highly enough, music aside its a wonderful place for a family day out and with quality live music it is indeed bordering on paradise  ::)

Glad you enjoyed it, roll on Cropredy  ;D

This is a festival all the locals seem to find out about either after the event has taken place ::), or at such short notice we can't get time off work to attent  :'(

I've seen musical events at the Conckers venue before & its certainly a nice little arena to play & listen in.
