Title: Bands that you see Post by: Barry on January 19, 2005, 01:21:44 PM No hurry to answer this - especially with the Revenue looming :o
When (and if) you get any free time, what sort of bands do you go and see. Are there any, for instance, that you would say "I must get a ticket to see so-and-so"? Or is it a question (as with some of my musician friends) of spending so long at looking at things with a professional eye that one can't really enjoy the performance because of think "I wouldn't have done that" or "that didn't work" .... Good luck with the return .... Barry Title: Re: Bands that you see Post by: Maart on January 20, 2005, 10:30:22 AM Peter Gabriel is a must, as is Ian Hunter. We usually make the effort to go see Midge Ure if he's about, and Richard Thompson. Jan's a raging Fleetwood Mac fan so I have to go along. Luckily I love Lindsay Buckingham's playing (till he gets too excited and starts hitting the guitar) and John McVie's bass playing. We always try to get to see Kieran Halpin too. Patrick Street and Planxty would be obvious favourites too, as well as Altan. We usually try to get along to see Fairport on tour at least once too. I used to like going to see The 'Oo, although I haven't seen them with Pino Palladino on bass. I used to like seeing King Crimson and Bruford, but they don't seem to come round so much any more.
I'm well over the "I wouldn't have done it like that" stage by now and just enjoy watching others enjoying themselves or not. So to recap, Peter Gabriel and Ian Hunter. Musts. Maart |
