Title: The Reel and Soul Association
Post by: Nigel no longer of Lysander on January 13, 2005, 03:12:52 PM
Hi Maart,
The Reel and Soul Association's moment of fame on TOTP2 prompted me to purchase the album of the same name, which is superb and very much has the same feel as Blue Tapestry. Obviously assembling the various combatants might prove difficult but even a short tour would be fantastic. Any chance ?

Cheers Nigel

Hi Nigel

This album came together in no time. My old chum Nigel Stonier rang me to raid my contact numbers and amazingly we were all available on the dates in question. The album was recorded over a couple of weeks but the most number of people in the studio at one time was probably three. The only time we ever all got together was for TOTP2 and we missed the party!!! A total experience of several hundred years and couldn’t find the party!!! The shame…

I doubt that RnSA will ever perform in a concert situation. Who could afford such a band? It’s like the band for Distant Shores, currently showing on ITV1 Wednesdays at 9:00pm. Have a look at them all on my website at www.maartinallcock.com

PS.The band was:

Thea Gilmore - gtr/vocal
Kelly While - gtr/vocal
Nigel Stonier - gtr/vocal/producer
Robbie MacIntosh (Pretenders, McCartney, loads...) - gtr/mando
John Kirkpatrick (Steeleye, Albinos, RT) - squeezy
Michael McGoldrick (Capercaillie, Toss The Feathers, loads!) - flute/Uilleann pipes
Maart - bass
Paul Burgess (10cc/Jethro Tull, loads...) - drums

I first met Thea when she came to Woodworm on work experience from school. She had her school uniform on, bless. I've not heard that much of what she's up to now but my sister's a big fan. She's pretty much sorted out and I'm sure she'll go a long way. I'd gladly work with her but she has a good man at the helm in Nigel Stonier. As for Cropredy I have no input. Dave Pegg chooses the acts.

I was told that Dave doesn't like her too much, so there may be a long wait to see her at Cropredy.
