Title: Musical Styles Post by: Barry on January 12, 2005, 01:15:53 PM Hi Maart
Is there any style of music that you haven't attempted live that you'd like to? Cheers Barry Title: Re: Musical Styles Post by: Maart on January 13, 2005, 10:54:37 PM Sorry I haven't answered this yet. Just moving you back up the list.

Having thought about it, no. Just missed out on being a Beatle, but it’s probably just as well. I have an eclectic taste (and record collection) but I can’t honestly think of any kind of music that I would be capable of (ie. not Indian music or saz or Afrique) that I haven’t done already. I just want to get better at them all… Maart Title: Re: Musical Styles Post by: Paul on January 17, 2005, 02:39:03 PM Done any Gilbert and Sullivan ????? ;D ;D ;D

I just want to get better at them all… It's pretty clear you have impressive and eclectic musical tastes. So what has made you a folkie? Why do you think you've spent such a large slice of your musical career in the folk-rock end of the music spectrum? You've played with all sorts, from Goth bands through to Americana yet you are known most for your folk-related work. Is it down to chance, contacts (word-of-mouth) or do you have a more overriding interest in the British music tradition? Cheers Nick Title: Re: Musical Styles Post by: Maart on January 19, 2005, 12:17:35 AM I am not a folkie. I'm a rocker who knows a lot about folk music. I guess that came from the more acoustic stuff that Zep and Tull were up to when I was at school. It's true I've spent a large chunk of my time here playing in the folk-rock side of things, but I don't listen to folk-rock at home. Ever. I listen to a lot of rock music however and my radio is welded to Radio Na Gaeltachta from Ireland when I'm home. Traditional Irish music all the time except for the **** country hour and I can never remember when that is. I also love to listen to Django Reinhardt and Spike Jones.
