Title: A Question For Colin (Domain Names)
Post by: Andy on October 09, 2004, 07:10:51 AM
Hi Colin

I notice that some of the websites associated with the Folk corporation are registered to "Woodworm Records trading as The Folk Corporation" and some are registered to you trading as The Folk Corporation and some just to you.

What's your relationship to Woodworm and will this affect the websites going forward as Woodworm appears to be defunct?

Andy

This only applies to .uk domain names.

The owner of a domain is the person who registered it and the procedure for transferring that, is very tightly controlled.

So if you look up the WHOIS at http://www.nominet.org.uk the only really important piece of information is the registrant.

Everything else can be changed at will, by however holds the TAG.

TAG? The ISPTAG identifies the service provider, that is hosting the domain, for the registrant. I am a member of Nominet and a TAG holder.
My TAG is CECONSULTANTS. The TAG holder must release the TAG, if requested by the registrant.

So woodwormrecords.co.uk and fairportconvention.co.uk are both registered to Woodworm Records, hence Chris Pegg.
