Very sad to inform you that Beryl passed on last night.

She had been unwell for some time.
She died peacefully at home.

Sad news indeed. I seem to recall reading somewhere that, without her influence on the young Swarb, he might not have become a fiddler!

Beryl was clearly one of those people . Important to Swarb and the band and known
to many of us who follow the crafts and skills that she displayed so well. We are able to rejoice in memories that she has left for us

Very sorry to hear this. I don't know much about piano to be honest, but her style was immensely recognizable. Happy memories of the various Ceilidh line ups at Cropredy with Beryl's flying fingers leading the way, or her performing the wonderful Jenny Nettles there with, I think, just Ric and Chris. One of those unforgettable moments. Sincere condolances.

Very sorry to hear this news. I never got to see her at Cropredy, but I do have some recordings of her work. Jenny Nettles springs to mind. I will listen to it this evening in tribute.  :(

Sorry to read this news. :(  My deepest sympathies to Roger, Katie and Bill at this time.  She was a terrific musician and, by all accounts, a lovely person too.

A truly sad loss, Weave the Mirror is never off my cd player long, some of the most beautiful music, so many high points. Lochaber No More, Bridget Cruise, the music on the Celidh ALbum and much more. My thoughts go out to her family and those who knew her.

What sad news.  My sympathies to all who knew her and worked with her.

One of those magical Cropredy moments when Swarb and Beryl played together. Giggles from younger people down the front who had no idea who she was when she walked on and then  a complete change in the atmosphere as they slowly realised the talent they were watching, as Beryl and Sward just encouraged each other to greater heights.
Just really sad but remembered as a groundbreaking musician and mentor to others. A real character

Very sad news.
I remember seeing Beryl with Swarb at Moulton Festival when i was about 13/14. It was one of those moments that i will remember forever.
I think that Swarb talks about Beryl in an interview in the latest issue of Living Tradition , where he tells how Beryl taught him how to dance, so he would understand how to play for dance.......very wise words .

Very sad news indeed.  I was lucky enough to see the FC Ceilidh Band a couple of times in the 80's (Portsmouth and, can't remember, Gloucester, I think) as well as Beryl's appearances at Cropredy over the years.  Always a joy.  She will be much missed.

Heartbreaking news! I am glad I got to see her play live. Anyone yet to hear "Weave the mirror" (the album she made with the Fairports  in 1991) is strongly recommended to have a listen to it. She was a wonderful musician and a major inspiration to so many of the musicians we grew to love. RIP!

So sad, such a wonderful musician, she made it look & sound so easy! I'm so glad I managed to include a photo of her in my book.

Very sad indeed - I remember seeing her support Fairport in I think 1991 doing stuff from the newly released Weave The Mirror.

Oh that is sad :'( I saw her play several times with Swarb, and at Cropredy, and loved listening to her.

Who was it described her as 'looking like everyone's favourite grannie until she got her hands on a keyboard??'

I was lucky enough to see her at a Fairport gig when I had 'The Gift' in my bag - I got it signed by her......and was chuffed to bits.

I can remember the first time I saw her, having only heard her play before, and how odd it was to reconcile the mumsy figure with the music - until she got going, then it really didn't seem relevant anymore. How wonderful to have such a talent to inspire, how sad that she's gone.

I’ve heard from Roger, Katie and Bill that Beryl's funeral will take place on the Tuesday following Cropredy, August 17th, at Noon at All Saints Church, Wing, Bucks LU7 0NY.
The family has said anyone is welcome to come and remember her, and that any floral tributes should be sent via S R Dillamore Ltd

I was shocked when I heard this on the grapevine at Sidmouth. Condolences to all her family and friends.

Just got back from Holiday to see this- How very sad. A great loss :'(
