Not a serious questionnaire, just a bit of 'armless fun. Just a bit interested to find out a few things about previous Festivals, as this year was only my sixth.

So, out of all the Cropredys you've been to......

1. Which one had the best Line-up?
2. Which one had the best Fairport set(s)?
3. Which one was the driest?
4. Which one was the wettest?
5. Which one do you have the best memories of?
6. At which one did you end up spending way too much money?
7. Which one flew by way too quickly?
8. At which one did you meet someone who's since become a good friend?(can be more than one year)
9. Which one had the best T-Shirt design?
10. Which year had the most emotional MOTL?

My answers-
1. Best line-up: 2008. Whaps, Tams and Coope, Supergrass, Mahones, PJ and Pegg, 3 Daft Monkeys, Stackridge, Joe Brown, Levs, Midge Ure. I could go on.

2. Best Fairport set(s): 2007

3. Driest: 2009

4. Wettest: 2010

5. Best memories: 2010

6. Shopping spree: 2009

7. Went by too quickly: 2009

8. Meet new friends: 2008 and 2009

9. T-Shirt design: 2008

10: Emotional MOTL: 2009. RIP Brav.

Blimey, that is a challenge.

1. Which one had the best Line-up?

Probably 2004

2. Which one had the best Fairport set(s)?

1997 or the 2007 Liege & Lief set

3. Which one was the driest?

I think 2003 was a hot one wasn't it?

4. Which one was the wettest?

1999

5. Which one do you have the best memories of?

They are all a bit of a blur. 2007 was pretty special. 1992 also.

6. At which one did you end up spending way too much money?

Most of them.

7. Which one flew by way too quickly?

All of them except 1999!

8. At which one did you meet someone who's since become a good friend?(can be more than one year)

None of them. Yet!

9. Which one had the best T-Shirt design?

2001

10. Which year had the most emotional MOTL?

2004, when they thought it might be the last one.

1. Which one had the best Line-up?

Possibly 2009 - Can't beat the Buzzcocks! In terms of 'line up not called Fairport or Richard Thompson', recent years have definately seen a raising of the game.

2. Which one had the best Fairport set(s)?

No. 7 (1985 or 6) it was my first and also the best.

3. Which one was the driest?

Also no. 7 or 8, it was rediculously hot, and there was a greenfly epidemic.

4. Which one was the wettest?

The year with JUlie Fowlis (2008???) only time I have ever left the field to get out of the rain (but I was back for Fairport).

5. Which one do you have the best memories of?
The late 80's / early 90's when our 'gang' would be 10-12 strong and there were not chairs on the field.

6. At which one did you end up spending way too much money?
Most of them!

7. Which one flew by way too quickly?
They seem to be getting shorter, even though they are getting longer

8. At which one did you meet someone who's since become a good friend?(can be more than one year)

9. Which one had the best T-Shirt design?
The celtic type design from many years ago (I still wear mine).

10. Which year had the most emotional MOTL?
For me, the year Trevor Lucas died.

1. Which one had the best Line-up?
1982. Friday night, Fairport doing the whole Babbacombe Lee and after that Home Service. Saturday night a good run-through of FC:s career so far with some enjoyable "Nine" line-up material

2. Which one had the best Fairport set(s)?

1982 for reasons above.

3. Which one was the driest?

As I remember 1981 and 2007 were the hottest.

4. Which one was the wettest?

I haven´t been to so many that it had had the chance to rain on me.  Grin

5. Which one do you have the best memories of?
1977, my first and with the rather troublesome way to the Garden Fête that year, will always make this special.. When Sandy and Trev arrived I met them on the path and my secret hope was that she would join them for a number or two. I didn´t dare to adress either of them, though.
1982, had a long night´s talk with two of Fairport´s guests and a bottle of Scotch (or two?) to bind together two evenings of fantastic music.
1983 Went with a special friend
1987 Spent it with my son, Axel, s Mum. He´s born late april 1988.
2007 Saturday night at Cropredy with my whole family. Very emotional

6. At which one did you end up spending way too much money?

1984. When I failed to get out of the back seat of Trevor F:s car with dignity in Banbury late Saturday night,  I realized  I had spent way too much money at the bar.  Wink

7. Which one flew by way too quickly?
 1977

8. At which one did you meet someone who's since become a good friend? David from 1977, I kept in contact with for some years. Yesteryear he re-found me on the Net!

9. Which one had the best T-Shirt design?

I´ve always been fond of 1987

10. Which year had the most emotional MOTL?

2007. With my family around me and thoughts of friends and lovers from four decades in mind, tears flowed.

1. Which one had the best Line-up?
I enjoyed this year, but I think 2006 was the best overall for me.
2. Which one had the best Fairport set(s)?
Yikes! I loved the Excalibur stuff this year, but Yusuf was amazing last year, and the year before with Mr Plant, well....
3. Which one was the driest?
   2009 although I got a better tan in 2008!
4. Which one was the wettest?
Easily this year. Where did it all come from?
5. Which one do you have the best memories of?
My first in 2004, the feeling when you first walk onto the field cannot be matched (well, it can, but I won't go into that here!)
6. At which one did you end up spending way too much money?
None of them. I take plenty and always bring some home.
7. Which one flew by way too quickly?
Last year. No idea why but Sunday arrived very quickly.
8. At which one did you meet someone who's since become a good friend?(can be more than one year)
All the TAWs every year of course! Plus we met a nice couple from Eastbourne this year who we intend to meet up with next year
9. Which one had the best T-Shirt design?
Just checked Simon Hadley's montage and I think I prefer the mid 90's designs. I like a bit of Celtic!
10. Which year had the most emotional MOTL?
I though the year after Mum died (2006) would be difficult but it wasn't, I remember singing along quite heartily and with gusto. It was the year after in 2007 that it came up and hit me from behind. I can't say I get that emotional about it tho. I find WKWTTG far more emotional and thought provoking.

Out of the 5 festies I've been to...

1. Which one had the best Line-up?
I think I saw the most in 2007, though 2006 was also good.
2. Which one had the best Fairport set(s)?
2007 by a long shot.
3. Which one was the driest?
2007 when it didn't rain at all.
4. Which one was the wettest?
2010
5. Which one do you have the best memories of?
2008 when we went side stage  Grin
6. At which one did you end up spending way too much money?
I've never really. Dad, on the other hand...  Roll Eyes
7. Which one flew by way too quickly?
2009
8. At which one did you meet someone who's since become a good friend?(can be more than one year)
We've not really.
9. Which one had the best T-Shirt design?
Out of the ones I have, I love the 2006 design. But the bar shirts with the mandolin are also fantastic.
10. Which year had the most emotional MOTL?
MOTL never really hit me until 2009, when I blubbed quite a lot. I have no idea why that year, it just happened.

1. Which one had the best Line-up? 1992 (25th anniversary) and 2007 - L and L year.

2. Which one had the best Fairport set(s)? Again 92 and 07 (the L and L set).

3. Which one was the driest? Can't remember. 2007 was pretty hot wasn't it?

4. Which one was the wettest? Can't remember that either. There was a year they were towing cars out of the campsite. When was that?

5. Which one do you have the best memories of? 1979, 1992 and 2007.

6. At which one did you end up spending way too much money? All of them.

7. Which one flew by way too quickly? 1979. Partly on account of a miscalculation on the cider front. I haven't drunk cider since.

8. At which one did you meet someone who's since become a good friend?(can be more than one year)

9. Which one had the best T-Shirt design? Do they do T-Shirts?

10. Which year had the most emotional MOTL? 1979. We thought it'd be the last time ever.

1992 is the only one I have missed since the mid '80s, and thats because I was in hospital. The 25th aniversery double CD set does show a fantastic lineup of special guests.
I do miss the inclusion of a Sandy singer to the set - it definately added to the sense of occasion (even the year of the two country and western singers (shudder)).

Only the last 4 Cropredys to choose from but:

1. Best line-up - I'm torn between 2007 and 2008!
2. Best Fairport set - 2007 for me.
3. Driest - 2007 - it having been wet for months beforehand, it was the first time I'd worn shorts all summer and got sunburn!
4. Wettest - 2008 just beats 2010 for me as it's the only year I left the site because of the rain. Back to the camper for a coffee and a refill of my flask to stave off the hypothermia.
5. Best memories - 2007.
6. Spent too much - every year but 2010. Couldn't find anything I wanted to be really extravangant about this year.
7. Over too quick - 2007 - great weather, great line-up and over too soon.
8. Met someone - not done it, yet.
9. T Shirt - 2009.
10. Emotional MOTL - 2009 - my Dad died on the Monday after Cropredy 2008.

1. Which one had the best Line-up? 2007
2. Which one had the best Fairport set(s)? 2007
3. Which one was the driest?2007
4. Which one was the wettest?2008, but the best ever wet set by J. Fowlis, who looked to be enjoying it, and said she was highly grateful and honoured by her reception. Actually, I suppose 2010 was technically wetter, but I've got better togs now. And a better tent.
5. Which one do you have the best memories of? 2007
6. At which one did you end up spending way too much money? I don't tend to buy merchandise, just lots of beer so not so much of a problem as it's all money well spent, innit.
7. Which one flew by way too quickly? All.
8. At which one did you meet someone who's since become a good friend?(can be more than one year). Well, not quite answering the question, but this year I met a bloke who I last saw in 1979, at Cropredy. He hasn't changed much, just the penchant for white cowboy headgear which only comes with the degeneracy of age.
9. Which one had the best T-Shirt design? Can't remember.
10. Which year had the most emotional MOTL? 2007, I had been planning to go back for so many years, and finally made it for Liege and Lief.
Also the year I first fully "got" Richard Thompson.

Who were they, then? The C and W singers?
