Looks like I may have to give it a miss this year. Chesterfield may be an option, if I can get the last train back to Sheffield.
Fortunately the Winding Wheel is only a few minutes' walk from the station, and the trains back to Sheffield run into the early hours. I've never had any problems getting back that way  |

An old friend of mine has asked me if I would go with her to see Fairport at Tunbridge Wells. Evidently her husband can't make it, as he'll be out in the far cornfields, doing something.

Screwfix have got a special offer on long beaten swords at the moment, Colin. Just make sure you get the better of them and you'll be OK.  |

Despite having perused the Wintour dates more than once, it has taken the helpful observations of my mother to point out that there is no Birmingham Town Hall date this year  What has become of it, Fairport "always" do that one?  Granted that there are other dates on the tour that I could attend - With an afternoon in the pub in either Leamington Spa or Shrewsbury sounding particularly appealing - But being at the end of the tour the Birmingham show has always tied in exceptionally neatly with my birthday for the past four years since I moved from the north east! 'Tis a shame to see this by now well established tradition missed next year |
