Apologies if this is duplicated elsewhere, but I've just seen it announced on Beesweb. No details, just a notice of a cancelled date. Hope it isn't serious.

He wasn't showing any signs of pain at tthe awards ceremony on the completion of the Cricket match on Cropredy Festival Sunday.

After the scorpion bite, poor RT isn't having a good year....

Mmmm - I doubt that will be much compensation to a legion of RT fans!  Grin

Really? Given previous posts, I thought that was a wind-up!

Poor old RT, how did he do it?

Don't know if this was the incident that caused the broken finger but Richard was rapped on the knuckles whilst batting in Sunday's cricket match. At the time it didn't seem to bother him greatly because he simply shook his hand in recoil before he carried on batting. However the finger may well have become more painful once any bruising developed.

Well David during the cricket match I was umpiring at one end, I kept having a word in the various bowlers shell likes, reminding them to pitch the ball up when bowling to Richard, obviously to avoid damaging his hands. Sadly the umpire standing at the other end, a certain Mr. John Etheridge, yes that one ! wasn't feeling as protective of our hero as I was..................that much is clearly apparent now.

You know my memory is getting worse as I get older, the bowlers name escapes me, I just hope for his sake his coop household insurance, includes cover for breaking guitarist's fingers.

Unlikely Chris, Richard loves his cricket, I believe it will take more than a bruised or broken finger to stop him participating

Of this year's guests certainly, but Mick Bullard, Steve Crickett and Paul Mitchell have all played at the festival in previous years and were there this year as stalwarts of the side. Danny T and Martin Fitzgibbon from CQ were "near misses" this year. Sadly, age and injury are starting to take their toll and the side has always been leavened with "proper" cricketers.

RT played a cricket match the week before Cropredy too. When he's over in UK he often steps in to play for a club Pam Aird (Music at the Unicorn) is associated with.

Here's hoping he'll make it to Beautiful Days next year.

Cheers

RT has his own cricket team - I forget their team name - and Pam does the admin for that & scores for them.

We're called B Sharps (Sharps for short) and Pam does the scoring & finds people to look after the kit. She and Steve Crickett find us useful players. Admin., match management and worrying is down to yours truly.
