Somewhat lower down the league tables of re-release costs, I've just nabbed a near-mint copy of Beefheart's "Safe As Milk" album (Buddha label remaster incl bonus tracks) for £1.99 + p&p!!

I think I paid 14/6d for my old vinyl copy... from an electrical retailer who seemed to stock a small and random selection of records.
I think you would have bought it from the old Marble Arch rack. A good source of albums by Donovan and The Kinks as well as Kenny Ball and old blues artistes. In fact anything that had been on Pye.

That's exactly right - I'd forgotten Marble Arch... thanks Nick!

I might go for it this time,  if they rectify the faults it was prone to last time- broken trays etc.
My first copy had one cd missing (an empty slipcase). Amazon were very good and sent a second copy before I'd returned the first (just before it sold out).

Traffic albums on vinyl.

I didn't get into them until quite late- i think it was about 1990 when I bought my first Traffic album- John Barleycorn because I had some familiarity with it.
I haven't heard a Traffic album I don't  like (yet). Whether it's the early psych/pop/rock or the later era jazz/soul sound, it's all good.

Maybe you need to listen to Far from Home Wink Grin  In truth, there are some pretty decent songs in there trying their hardest to escape from the production...
