Wilco ... and Out!

« on: December 07, 2005, 03:08:13 PM »

The Roadmender going out of business was a disappointment to many of you living in the area, I know. For us too: it makes a great change to play a standing audience occasionally on what is customarily a theatre-style environment tour, so it's good news at least that those of you planning to come to the shoe-town gig have an alternative in the form of THE DECO. This is an English Heritage assisted refurbishment of the SAVOY as was in Abington Square, centrally located. So put it back in your diaries please - Monday February 27th. The gig was only set up yesterday evening on the way to the Dylan Project Worcester show, so the box office will be in the dark for at least a couple of days, but their website is www.thedeco.co.uk.
Nice to have some hot new News for you (and to avoid having to give the chaps an unexpected day off!)

Very well done to all concerned, this is especially good news for Nuthouse and SoN. It will also come as a great relief to Ulla, who has already booked her flight from Germany to attend the Northampton date.  Folkie Jen has also planned her trip over from Brest.

Just checked the website, no confirmation on there as yet.  Looks like a good venue.  Am aiming to get to this one. Even if only to buy Nutts a pint  Grin  Grin

That's a relief....

Just been forced out of early hibernation by kicks from SoN .. pile of local newspapers announcing that saying that the Roadmender had 'gone south'...  Angry

Then, wiping sleep from the eyes, catching up on notices to see that The Deco will be the place to be. I haven't been to The Deco myself but Abington Square is easy to find and just on the edge of the town centre so easy for train & bus stations and car parks.

I still vote for the Malt Shovel for a beer or two if anyone can make it... arrange nearer the time.

That's very good news. I'll start making arrangements in January once I know my new timetable.

Apologies to Nuthouse and son but sadly I won't be able to make it to the Northampton gig this year.  Have a terrific day, I'm sure lots of boardsters will join you and Jen (folkie) at the Malt Shovel.

I spoke to a very nice man on 01604 602787 today, who was only too pleased to sell me one. Only one, mind, so pairs and multiples might be harder to get hold of in good spots.
Cheers
