It's always been Blue for me, but I respect other choices.

Uncut are claiming this month Heijra is Joni's finest album, they're wrong it's Hissing Of Summer Lawns (I also have a soft spot for that double live album Sound And Sight?).

Shadows and Light.
Hissing and Shadows were my entry point to Joni...and also Jaco and and Pat Metheny.
I went backwards from there, and then forwards up to Don Juan's.
Before moving onto Mingus, I wanted to listen to his own stuff first, so I bought a classic albums set, but have yet to get round to listening to it.
I have a couple of later tracks on Hits and Dreamland.

I'd say....ALL of Joni's albums are her best.

Agreed, her albums are small in number but all just perfect.

I also feel the main problem this year is the underwhelming lineup.
I will be there because it is Cropredy after all, but if I saw this prog yawnfest at any other festival I would definitely be giving it a wide berth!

You’re a mate Bill , so I can do this.
So you’re not really going to a fest. You’re going to afield to meet up with some mates and it doesn’t matter if there’s music on or not……?

The music still plays a large part and there is much that I will enjoy, it’s just some of the headliners leave me a bit cold, but then the festival is not about pleasing me and I know there are  many who are more than happy with the lineup.
As for the meeting friends bit, that is a massive draw for me. There are many who we only see at this one festival and there is nothing that will ever match that Meet On The Ledge moment on the Saturday night.
Talking of friends, it’s been far too long since we saw your good self!

Sorry about so many posts but…..
Just been re looking at the Brase lineup…..
Steve Knightly playing the Brase on Friday . Pos special guest on the Sat?
Or even While and Matthews who are playing Brase on Thurs. Chris singing Sandy again ?

All three have played the festival before; I wonder if the Brasenose is now direct competition to Cropredy? That can’t help…

Adam, I think the Brase is a fest in itself. Seperate ticketing.cracking line up.
It will be interesting to see how village parking copes with ,effectively 2 fests.

That’s my point (I think!) - I wonder how many people are going to the Brasenose/field 8 and not bothering with Cropredy tickets as they offer similar music at a cheaper price? Even if it is a hundred or so, it will still hurt.

Are that older aging demographic , who do not want to be cold and wet in a field anymore, not doing things like this……

"Out Of The Rain", the new album from Blair Dunlop.

Another seriously good set of songs from Blair - I've been following his musical career since 2009, and he continues to make excellent albums. This, his 5th studio effort, shows a natural maturity and progression and an even more electric sound than previously, well worth a listen.

Hi Dan, I saw him at Magpies Fest last year. Excellent new songs , presentation etc. I was surprised at how much he had developed.
