Oh yes it would be such a shame to abandon the toast, it’s always a lot of fun, as well as a great money raiser for TCT.

Somewhat lower down the league tables of re-release costs, I've just nabbed a near-mint copy of Beefheart's "Safe As Milk" album (Buddha label remaster incl bonus tracks) for £1.99 + p&p!!
I think I paid 14/6d for my old vinyl copy... from an electrical retailer who seemed to stock a small and random selection of records. |

Following Pastie Boy's defection to the Dark Side do we continue ? If you think we should please reply saying you will attend. . Here's Three reasons why we should. 1). On average we raise over £300 for the Teenage Cancer Trust . 2). Its fun and often its the only time we meet each year. 3). In my opinion the toast is too important a tradition to let slide away. If we get confirmation of continued interest and support then I will get Toast 24 organised. TrevG I love the idea of the toast and really hope we can keep it as an important part of our Cropredy. |

RT York gig review from the Grauniad: https://www.theguardian.com/music/article/2024/may/29/richard-thompson-review-every-note-laid-bare-in-stripped-down-set-richard-thompson-york-barbican Thanks for that. Saw the Bristol gig and it was just as the review says. A minor stumble over a lyric here or there but a refreshing and varied set. Jack Hobbs is a very fine player and has mastered a lot of his Grandad's technique. Loved the interplay between the two of them. |

I bought a sealed copy from Amazon in July 2011 for £207 , so I'd assume the release price in 2010 was below that , someone will know The production cost of a like for like reissue , depending on the volume being produced, could be stratospheric , given all the posters/ re-printed first piano receipt included first time I seem to remember being told (by someone with very close links to AB who put it together) that every copy lost money...but don't take that as gospel. |
