After watching a VHS tape of "It All Comes 'Round Again", picked up for £1 in Cheltenham about 20 years ago...  :o

Canny Capers

A four part work of prog folk rock genius. A themed showcase for all of the band which grows to a magnificent climax.

Feel like this should be split into the Swarb and the Sanders years.

I think Danny Jack's Chase is worth a mention. My fave Swarb instrumentals have already been listed.

Whether a poll favourite or not at the end of the day (and yes, I love it, but I love lots of them) Lark in the Morning deserves a special accolade for being (though I may be corrected/shot down on this) the first ever electric traditional folk instrumental (i.e. trad folk tunes done electrified).

It could also have one as the most iconic use of a cowbell. I'm working on setting the cowbell as my text alert, to go with my Mandolin Wind phone alert.

My personal favourite - Hmmm, I think for pure nostalgia if nothing else, Flatback Caper takes it.

Si Bheag Si Mhor. Lifted from the Swarb/Nicol duo repertoire as per "White Bear" to full FC status. Swarb,Simon,Peggy and Bruce did transcendental versions of this wonderful O'Carollan tune, and the post 86 band kept it in for a while.  I asked Ric to play it at a Ric,Fred and Vikki gig at a Beverly WMC, then felt guilty when I could hear him re-acquainting himself with it all thru the interval !  BUT, he came out and played it beautifully. Bravo Ric, and thanks..............

Ooo can I also add "On The Floor" written by Maart to commemorate the birth of his son (Gerrard?) and played by the band around that time. It had one of those marvellous syncopated rhythms that DM excelled in  :)

The only time I've seen/heard that is on the video of their Birmingham Town Hall concert around 1990ish.

Ach, you beat me to it, David. Just about to post 'EoaH' then I scrolled down and there it was. It was one of a very few tunes I (almost) worked out all by myself, on guitar.

Thirded - and I never could quite master the picking required to play it. Somehow a very nostalgic and evocative piece.
