I wouldnt have thought that lopping a few things off here and there would affect the price much. I have the large boxes by Sandy, Al Stewart and ian hunter and wouldnt like to lose any of the content there, even though I will play some more than others. The Al Stewart box features regularly in this house.

I trust the house insurance is in order.  If not, I'm heading down the M6 immediately... Wink Grin

I found this today

Interesting..........especially the price

Every rock artist worth their salt needs a signature geetar these days apparently.  The ones that really amuse me are the ones designed to make them look as knackered and worn as the artist's original... eg https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/230203400134025--fender-custom-shop-rory-gallagher-stratocaster-3-colour-sunburs?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwr7ayBhAPEiwA6EIGxLCs7d3cmtZAubrIka419mT0dILonNeCYOCkihRdplXGts2iipIvhhoCOzwQAvD_BwE

String Driven Thing : The Machine that Cried (Esoteric CD,  2012).

This is rather good, although the CD sounds  somewhat bright.  Interesting  sleeve essay.  SDT were another band who had stuff to offer but never quite got the credit they deserved.

Love them. Saw them get 6 encores once in the seventies.

I wish I'd seen them .

I think Colin Harper's point was that there wasn't much 70's material on video, and given that there was room on this box to include it, he felt it should be included as a bonus, since the chances of any other release are pretty small.  So yes, given the concept it doesn't make sense, but I'm not complaining that they are available here.  If they displaced other stuff that fitted the concept better, then I'd question their inclusion more.

Will I get it…you betcha. Will I wish that anything (audio or video) that is a little dodgy was not included…probably! Not drifting here but having just gotten the Horslips box I think in hindsight it could have been chopped down a little, thus reducing cost. Agreed that the very nature of specific years for the box means anything before or after should not be in it.

I have seen a FB post subsequent to that I itial listing suggesting that is wrong and with a different listing from a US retailer which does not include the 70s stuff. Posted by Colin Harper(?) I believe.

Gotta say I disagree about the Horslips box. It is all essential to me even though there are bits of it that I may not listen to again. And there is more to come!

I think you perhaps misread Colin's post, Al.  He posted that he wanted to include these tracks as "an extra", so they are in the box set on that basis.  It makes very little sense to me, though.  As indeed does the fact that the signatures included are only those of the remaining Full Housers...  There should have been more thought about the title and concept (I think) but I still think it will be grand, and I'll certainly be buying it.

Fair enough on both points. I guess what I mean on Horslips is that there is a certain percentage of inferior audio on some of the live discs which could have made it a wee bit leaner perhaps. Happy to have it though! And happy that Fairport will have a Madfish release! The quality of the book alone will be worth it!
