Title: Fairport on Radio 6 Tonight (well early morning) 4am 27 Jan 2011
Post by: Graham B on January 26, 2011, 08:29:18 AM
A Fairport Convention Session from 18/3/69 is part of the Live Music Hour show tonight (well early tomorrow morning actually).
Broadcast is at 4am on 27 Jan 2011.

What it says on the BBC website is:

"Van Morrison recorded at Glastonbury in 1987 plus BBC session tracks from Fairport Convention (18/03/1969 Top
Gear) and The Merton Parkas (13/08/1979 John Peel)."

It's a different date to anything included on the "Live at the BBC" set released in 2007, but it's not clear on the "Live at the BBC" set if the dates are recording dates or broadcast dates so it might be something included there.

According to Clinton Heylin's "Gypsy Love Songs", the four songs recorded on 18/03/69
("Cajun Woman", "Autopsy", Si Tu Dois Partir" & "Percy's Song"were broadcast on 06/04/69 & are therefore tracks 4-7 on disc two of "Live at the BBC" &  this version of "Percy's Song was also on "Heyday".

It's great that such archive material is getting an airing.  :)

I can't stay up that late.  Maybe I'll just play the CD.   ;D

I'm pretty much unable to do either these days!
