Mock Tudor v Hand of Kindness
I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight v Sweet Warrior
Shoot Out the Lights v Amnesia
In Concert Nov 1975 v Henry the Human Fly

No easy matches at this stage - very very hard to decide.  On another day both Mock Tudor & Sweet Warrior might have got the vote.

Shoot Out The Lights v Amnesia   Another quandary. Amnesia is where I came in and is another favourite but you can't argue with The Great Valerio can you?

Erm...did I miss something? Great Valerio's on Bright Lights surely.

Anyway;

Mock Tudor v Hand Of Kindness   This one is tough. Probably my two favourite albums. Songs on HoK amongst RT's very best but as an album MT just edges it for sentimental reasons.

The eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted that I have got my albums muddled here. I noticed just before you posted folkicons.  Embarrassed Too many records with the word "light" in the title Richard! It would seem therefore that a rematch is required, the result of which is that Can't Win, ironically, can & does!

In Concert November 1975 v Henry The Human Fly - very, very tough one for me as these are my two fave RT CDs, but I felt obliged to go with Henry in the end, for the consistency of the songwriting

Assuming the Steeleye Span tournament gets played to a conclusion, it will be necessary to sort out a fourth to play the Champions League matches.

I suggest a straight shoot out between the following teams from one of the smaller leagues in the folk rock federation:

Fotheringay
Fotheringay 2
Sandy
North Star Grassman & The Ravens
Rendezvous
Like An Old Fashioned Waltz
Gold Dust
All Our Own Work

Anybody want to set that one up?

I'll run that one for you Gub. Just tearing up a piece of paper in to eight to do the draw.

Wot, no Albion Band? Shocked Rise Up Like the Sun and Larkrise have to be in there somewhere!

The Albions have been usurped by the Steeleyes. There's only so many leagues we can run and we need an even number. I love the Albions but their catalogue is bewildering and I suspect insufficiently well known in its more obscure corners to a lot of people. I'd happily see Rise Up take on any team. Perhaps an exhibition match agains the eventual winners or we can have an odds & sods league next year featuring the Albions, Swarb, Simon's solo stuff etc.

Personally I'd love to do an Oysterband league.

This is getting out of control!  Grin

I'm a late entrant here and would have found earlier rounds harder, but these were easy choices for me.

So I go away for a few days and this happens - what the hell happened to Rumour and sigh?

Amnesia deserves to make the semi's, but has been drawn against Man. united.

And now here is Christopher Martin Jenkins with the classified football results...

Mock Tudor v Hand Of Kindness    11 - 16   MT started strongly but were beaten by a late flurry of goals from the HoK boys.  Sad
I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight v Sweet Warrior   21 - 7
Shoot Out The Lights v Amnesia   23 - 5
In Concert November 1975 v Henry The Human Fly  4 - 24

Henry the Human Fly, this plucky little team that began life with fewer than 200 supporters, whose sponsors disowned them have fought their way through against all odds to the semi finals which are as follows:

Hand of Kindness v Shoot Out The Lights
Henry The Human Fly v I Want To See the Bright Lights Tonight

Back to regular full time whistle. 6pm tomorrow.
