Usually not until after the Autumn tour.

.....and, indeed, a four piece raid into Glasgow this very Friday.

Nice to see Scotland very definitely back on the agenda.

This will be their second visit to the 'Dear Green Place' this year.  The first was at Celtic Connections in January when the five piece rocked the 500 standing punters whio were there.

Is the latter a gig, or a private party?

THe newsletter says
"2007 Winter Tour!
Keep your eyes peeled for news of the Full Band's annual excursion - this
time starting February 1st in Tewkesbury running through to a party night in
Chipping Norton March 11th. More later....."

I doubt they'd be telling us about a private party....hope it's not in the theatre, as it doesn't hold very many. Town Hall would be better....

At first glance for me - at least 11, with a possibility of a dozen.

Tewkesbury, Leamington, Wycombe, Birmingham, Chesterfield, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Croydon, Cardiff, London & Chipping Norton.

And possibly Southampton too....

Tewkesbury or Brum for me - sadly not Chippy, as I'll be somewhere in the middle of the Namibian desert that night, on a Prince's Trust fundraising Challenge.

That's got to be the best excuse for not attending...  ;)

I wonder if Steves Ashley and/or Winwood will be in the audience at Tewkesbury?

Have just spoken to The Theatre at Chippy who are handling admin for the Town Hall gig on 11 March - they advise that bookings will not open until the New Year.

We usually go to Burnley for the Winter Tour but I've just noticed that Fairport are also playing Huddersfield and we can actually get there quicker than to Burnley!  (Plus we can avoid all the security searches as a result of Sir Bob attending the Burnley gig ;) ;D).

Is the Lawrence Batley Theatre a good venue?  Any information would be nice.

Looks like they are going fairly fast - I've just booked and got a BB.

The box office mark up on the ticket price is better than some theatres - a local theatre charged added some £6.50 to a "£17" ticket for the privileges of making an order and doing so over the web. I felt ripped off.

Apparently the sound quality is better nearer the back at Symphony Hall - it looks massive though - you'd hardly be able to see!!

Just called St David's Hall to book a ticket. Booking is open on the 11th of December unless you are a "friend" of St David's Hall, when it opens on the 4th. I was given the wrong information in the first place! Grrrrrrr >:(

I've ordered my tickets for the 10th Feb in High Wycombe;last year we went to Basingstoke, but The Swan in Wycombe accepts theatre tokens, so I can finally use up a Christmas present from last year - and treat myself to the most expensive seats!

After two days of listening to engaged tones I have finally managed to get through to the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury and then a wait of 15 minutes in "the queue" before I finally managed to buy our tickets to see the Chaps......but, I know it shall be worth it ;D

What's The Brook (Southampton) like as a venue? The fact that you park over the road in an industrial estate is putting me off somewhat....

Thanks

I've decided to give Burnley a miss this year. Last year they layed the front of the auditorium out with tables and chairs, as though it was a pub or something, and although there would have been plenty of space for all to sit, latecomers like me had to stand around the edges, which was a pain.
Happily, this time the band are visiting Preston Guildhall, where there will be plenty of seats, although it may well be less intimate. So, that's where I'm going!

Yes, Amy. They can carry up to as many as eight. In fact, at a push they could nearly all sleep in it (so long as they are good friends). Little tardis's they are.

Title: Re: Winter Tour 2007 - Dates
Post by: Sandra on January 14, 2007, 08:33:20 PM
I don't think they will actually be using it, Amy.

The max speed is about 60mph going downhill with a following wind. Hills can be tricky to say the least. Six up with equipment and a deadline to meet would be asking for trouble. There are gears somewhere in the gearbox but it takes a brave man to find them. Double declutching is almost obligatory. 25 mpg is achievable I have been told. They also cost the earth.

They are the original chocolate fireguard, lovely to look at but totally impractical for a touring band.

And I really, really want one!!!!!!

About the same, as its a modern version. We can only carry four as we have fixed seats that make up the bed, but have had 6 in it 'socialising'

Anyway, way off topic now. Better think of something more appropriate?

I haven't booked anywhere yet but Chippy is a possiblity.

Don't panic...I'm an ex resident of the Canterbury / Whitstable / Herne Bay triangle and I can assure you of at least another 3 people who have told me they will be turning up...how about moving it to the pub just across the road from the theatre, then?   ;)
