The first Sandy Denny song I remember hearing is "The Sea" from the first Fotheringay album, so it resonates with me.
Others: "Listen, Listen", "It Suits Me Well", "Percy's Song" and WKWTTG. The last being a thing of beauty and sadness.
That's today. Tomorrow, or even this afternoon, they may all be banished by other favourites.

'Banks of the Nile' would have to be on there. Probably 'North Star Grassman' as well. 'Fotheringay', 'Who Knows...' and 'Listen, Listen'.
That would do, but there are many others that could be used too.

Except that it's one of her worst records. Jules I agree. In truth, our Sandy wasn't the greatest interpreter of up tempo rock 'n' roll numbers was she? Although, when I saw her at Kingston Polytechnic in the 70's, she came on unexpectedly and did a great version of 'Memphis Tennessee'. You probably needed to be there to realise the excitement that song caused! |
