Does anyone recall when Julianne Regan guested at Cropredy? I really liked her vocals in All About Eve, and thought she brought something a little different to those 1989-92 festivals...

Indeed.  A great voice and much missed from the stage.  I think she's well and happy though from what I read, which is fab.

I think the last time was 1992. She is on the 25th Anniversary album. I seem to remember her doing great versions of Blackwaterside and One Way Donkey Ride but I can't remember in which year.

This is what she did (I'm sure!):

1989 - The Lady, Who Knows Where The Time Goes? (Plus full All About Eve set)

1990 - After Halloween, I'm A Dreamer

1991 - One Way Donkey Ride, Blackwaterside

1992 - Flowers In Our Hair, More Than The Blues.

All About Eve have played Cropredy since 1992 though - they headlined Thursday in 2000

Yes they did, sorry. But did she sing with Fairport that year - unsure...

I'd love her to come back - I know Simon would too as he's mentioned it on this board.

maybe we should start a campaign....  Smiley

She really really doesn't do any live gigs now and from my conversations with her recently, it's unlikely that she will..

look at her myspace where she is very definite about it.

NOTE from Julianne. "I am not available to sing at your wedding / birthday party / etc. although I genuinely hope you have a nice day. Live dates *at this point in time* are as likely as a forest fire taking hold in the Arctic circle. I also do not want to take part in any 'Washed Up Goths Train Puppies to Juggle Dead Mice in the Rainforest' shows, so please don't bother asking. (By the way, unlike Ringo Starr, these questions and requests don't make me angry nor do they make me feel the need to make a podcast.)"

i do not know julianne regan, any more than the next person who talks to her online, but AAE were then, and remain now, right upthere with led zep as one of my very favourite bands. i feel strangely defensive toward her, and you know what, if she doesn't want to she doesn't have to and she certainly doesn't have to justify herself to the likes of us.

Absolutely.

And that applies to all musicians. Just because one might buy their product, weirdly some then expect those artists to be forever beholden.....

While I'm not disagreeing about your sentiment, I do have to wonder how expressing curiosity about someone's motives is the same as demanding that someone "justify herself" or displays an expectation of eternal beholding ...

All of a sudden we're not allowed to be curious?

Which I took in the spirit I am sure it was intended to be ie to be an entirely humourous comment about her not wanting to be on the 'Goth reunion' tour ladder.

I saw her do 'WKWTTG' at Cropredy when I was a pup and it's one of my best memories.
