Traffic albums on vinyl.

I didn't get into them until quite late- i think it was about 1990 when I bought my first Traffic album- John Barleycorn because I had some familiarity with it.
I haven't heard a Traffic album I don't  like (yet). Whether it's the early psych/pop/rock or the later era jazz/soul sound, it's all good.

Maybe you need to listen to Far from Home Wink Grin  In truth, there are some pretty decent songs in there trying their hardest to escape from the production...

Kynaston's, St John's Road, Waterloo, Liverpool 22. Long since closed. Owned and run by 2 brothers, one of whom was at school with my Dad.  I also bought Jefferson Airplane's "Bless Its Pointed Little Head" from them.  But the main local outlet for gramophone records was Myerscough's in South Road - which also sold prams, pushchairs and bicycles Huh - I bought DSOTM, Pictures at an Exhibition and KC's Earthbound from them on those LPs' release dates.  Happy memories!

But back on track - I'll be heading into Badlands in Cheltenham tomorrow to buy Ship To Shore and Can's Aston 77 albums...

Somewhat lower down the league tables of re-release costs, I've just nabbed a near-mint copy of Beefheart's "Safe As Milk" album (Buddha label remaster incl bonus tracks) for £1.99 + p&p!!

I think I paid 14/6d for my old vinyl copy... from an electrical retailer who seemed to stock a small and random selection of records.

It wasn't the same electrical retailer that I bought my copy from was it?  Just up the road from Chorlton-cum-hardy bus station.  He Has a small and random selection of second had records.  I'm certain I paid less than quid for it.😉

Insane number of typos and pop up ads, but here’s a thing… https://www.classicrockhistory.com/top-10-fairport-convention-songs/ Number 9’s a bit of an eye opener.

I had a go on social media about that.  It's a laughable list.  I'm no fan of the post-85 output of the band but even I can put my finger on literally dozens of tracks from that period more worthy of inclusion with the rest of the tracks than that.  Even Jewel in the Crown is fairly debateable...  And WKWTTG is "easily the most loved Fairport Convention song of all time".  Is it really, Skip?

I paid £148.93 according to Amazon.

Which is £222.40 today (Bank of England inflation calculator).

And yet my upper ceiling for what I will pay per CD has not changed a penny.  Grin

Oh yes it would be such a shame to abandon the toast, it’s always a lot of fun, as well as a great money raiser for TCT.
Count Amethyst and Pugwash in.
