It's a company that specialises in making gold and platinum copies of discs for fans to buy. Nowhere does it say that they are discs awarded for sales, just presentation discs made for fans.
I think there are quite a few companies making and selling these.. there seem to be loads on the market

The plaque beneath the disc does say "Presented To recognise sales in the United Kingdom............" and nowhere does it make plain that it is NOT official.

That and the £120 price tag add up to an attempt to pass the item off for something it is not IMHO.

A few clicks came up with this...

I agree with Mark, the ad tried to sound genuine, no where does it say a reproduction... mind I am going to have another look at the small print  Grin

Having clicked on the side bar it is a bit obvious  Grin Grin

If it was original it would have the name of one of the members of the band that it was presented to. I don't think 'Chronicles' has sold enough to warrant a plastic disc yet, let alone a gold/platinum disc..

I'm sure the only album of Fairports to achieve gold status (let alone platinum) is Liege and Lief!
