Title: Roger Burridge RIP
Post by: fstix (Michael) on November 25, 2020, 01:31:35 PM
Roger Burridge, fiddle player along with Swarb in the 1976 Gottle O'Geer line-up, has passed, and his family have started a Gofundme to help with expenses.

"Roger Burridge died on November 23rd, 2020 in New  Hampshire after a month's stay in ICU at Concord Hospital.

After fighting for for his life, his body was too weak to clear out the fluid in his lungs & his heart gave out. He passed peacefully at 63 years of age.

As some of you know, Roger was a renowned & loved Irish fiddle player. He was a member of Fairport Convention in early days, & met his beloved wife Kate in Ireland playing traditional music as the regular session player at McGann's Pub in Doolin, County Clare.

After moving to the states & starting a family in New Hampshire, he continued to delight with his musical talent all over the tri-state area.

As Roger was a believer of living in the moment, he was uninsured at the time of his hospital stay & passing. He is now survived by disabled wife Kate, daughter Molly,  son Sam, & sister Dr. Jane Burridge. Now, his family is left with paying the daunting medical bills in his wake.

The family wanted to create a page for any one who feels like donating to this cause after the outpouring of love they have received from the traditional Irish music community & all other friends.

All donations will be given to family. From there, family will provide payment to ICU services.

If you could donate, any amount is always appreciated. If you cannot donate, please spread this fundraiser with those who would be interested. We thank you profoundly for your help, love, & support as we get through this tough time.

The Burridge Family."

The footage from the Rockpalast gig is a great oddity in the FC canon - very much Swarb's band but a Roger is there as a cherubic young fiddle player, not entirely at ease but clearly very talented.

Sad news.
