Post by: koho (Koen) on July 06, 2006, 09:27:13 AM
Spotted this on the rather fab www.youtube.com again --

Now Be Thankful From the 1970 Maidstone video --

And the 1973/4 clip as featured on the It All Comes Round Again video (as is the other one, come to think of it) --

The latter filmed behind the Brasenose at Cropredy!

The Carthy/Hutchings Steeleye Span. This is from I think the Carthy box set, the CDrom which was in there.

Search for Steeleye Span in youtube for a few more clips.

Why is there always such a delay between the sound and the vocals on youtube?  Very frustrating....

But many thanks for the clips...

Just watched these two clips.  The first made me feel all maternal, which is very weird, since these guys are all older than me!  I suppose it's because they were about the same age as my own now.  The second has whetted my appetite for the new CD.  Great footage - thanks.  :)

Superb clips all.  What a termendous resource YouTube is.  It's especially wonderful for me to see the Now Be Thankful clip as it's my all-time favourite song of all time.  Ever.   ;)

We must all be suffering amnesia today, I know it but just can't remember either!

Drives you mad doesn't it, happens to me all the time...

It's 'Lord Inchiquin' - Simon's solo bit from the 'Five Centuries Medley' (the others were mainly from 'Shuffle Off', including a bagpipe version of 'Seaside Shuffle')

Sorry Amethyst, missed this one.

It was a longish - getting on for 8-10 mins - instrumental medley, sort of the centrepiece of the Albions set for the 1982-83 line-ups. Usually ran something like this:

Brawl/Fine Companions/Snowdrop Polka/Albion Tango/Seaside Shuffle

(Most of those on 'Shuffle Off', just 'Fine Companions' slipped through the net I think)

However that was mainly when Simon was away with Swarb/Fairport/Richard (Alun Davies usually stepped in) so when Simon was present they'd replace the Playford tune (Fine Companions) with 'Lord Inchiquin' as a rare Nicol solo.

And just for interest's sake, the Cropredy 1983 set:

The Albions Are In Town Again - segues into:
A Simple Melody/Faggot Dance
The Green Mist
Dance Tune Medley: Brawl/Lord Inchiquin (Simon Solo)/Polka/Tango/Seaside Shuffle
Degrees Of Separation/The Shipwreck
(Love Is Like A) Railway Station
Orion's Belt/The Rose & The Rock
Beware Of Blue
