Ditto Mickf... I'm here for the afternoon. 3 pints down, listening to Clarion, Merry Hell later. To those TAWers I've seen, and everyone else... Have a great weekend! I'll be raising my glass on Saturday as well.

Indeed, Clarion, for a band that had not played together for 20 years were terrific. And Merry Hell were Merry Hell! ☺️

Kudos to the Brasenose for the excellent sound mix.

Lovely day with beers and buffalo burgers. On train home now.

Bumped into Pastie Boy and others at the end but was rushing off. Sorry about that.

How are the withdrawal symptoms ?
I missed my first in 2014 , after 20straight years and went to just the fringe. I have now missed 2017 and 2018 and sadly, don't miss it. Miss some of the people, like yourself , who I usually see but am more excited by the 2 smaller fests I am at this weekend. Sad innit.

I did every year from 1991 to 2012 except 2002 which I was unable to attend due to circumstances beyond my control and I missed it terribly. I have not had the urge to go since 2012 however because of the way the festival has changed. Yesterday I went back to Cropredy for the first time in 6 years. I had a lovely afternoon at the Brasenose, wandered around the village and visited the pubs and it was great. I did wonder though whether having gone that far I would have pangs to be at the full festival. Not a bit of it (other than missing Oysterband). I just enjoyed my day and was happy to be on my train home (and protected from the rain) at the end of it.

Cropredy 2018

« Reply #92 on: August 10, 2018, 10:15:18 AM »

I think the development of the fringe had been hugely positive, I have been to the festival regularly since '86 and like many have had some of huge best times of my life there. Now if the line up suits me I will put up the cash for the weekend, if not it simply. becomes a very expensive camping weekend. The Fringe allows me to support the village, meet friends and drink beer without any expectation.

I am going tomorrow so thanks to the Brase, Lion etc etc.

Morning Al.
Yes , I enjoyed a couple of years of just doing the fringe , meeting friends etc , in fact I was in the village in our van from the Tues til Monday.
Glad you had a good time.

Aww Jim. That was a bit like having one of your late night ’crits’, seeing you posting this.

Hope so,too. I am just raising a glass of chocolate Baileys to you all, whilst reading all this in bed in my digs! Skye is just stunning. But in a parallel universe, Cropredy is actually going on. Totes amazeballs.
