Won't be at Chippy Sad
But, as I recall, parking (at night) is hard to come by... but the time I'm remembering was the Festival weekend and it might have been because of that!

Carolyn would know more Jenny Smiley

There is parking in car parks on the main High St, (pay during the day) and a big free car park on the left as you follow the main road round. And there is parking on the side streets, but it does get a bit full

I asked the same question with regard to the USA tour.  Apparently it is an acousticaster - an acoustic with a solid body.  It takes up less space than the normal acoustic and is used when travelling on aeroplanes.

An interesting evening last night at the Chipping Norton Theatre.

Our first visit to this small Cotswold town.. arrived at 4pm.. far too early .. had the worst cup of tea anywhere in a little cafe.. then hung around for the rest of the time til we took our table in The Chequers.  An excellent meal here and chatted with Mr Bates and others that we knew.  Good to see the FC wintour dates too.

The theatre is small.. and very pretty...  the set list was the same as last May's. The band seemed very err, well.. relaxed.. I wondered if they'd got hold of some funny flapjacks.. there were plenty of laughs and jokes and Ric even admitted to having re written The Rosehip every three years but with the chords in a different place each time.. the tone was set  Grin

The theatre was packed and we had a long drive home so didn't stay at the end to say our usual 'hellos'.

Now we know the dates we're really looking forward to the Wintour  Grin

Same set eh? I know they've all been busy but that's a shame.I was looking forward to hearing something off the new record, maybe.Never mind, still very much looking forward to Runcorn on Friday-and then our trip to the new Doctor Who exhibition at Spaceport on Saturday! This'll be our five year old's second Fairport gig following Papplewick last May and she's really excited! BTW the trip to Spaceport is more for her Who obsessed Mum than it is for Lilly!

Same set eh? I know they've all been busy but that's a shame.

It may have been a "safe" set of old favourites, but that certainly didn't take anything from an great evening. Perhaps because of a few tuning issues the bits in between were as entertainig as the songs theselves(well almost!). From our position at ceiling level we could really see how much Gerry brings to the acoustic line-up. The Fossil Hunter and Close to You will never be absolute favourites, but the sensitive percussion gives them a whole new dimension.
Looking forward to the Robin next week!

Hmmmm, same set list as last tour  Huh Not a good omen. With the back catalogue they have and the way they performed when I saw them at the 100 club on the last tour I was kind of hoping for some other songs to have got the same treatment.

They were excellent that night but if its just a repeat of what they did then, well you have to ask is it worth going?

Each to their own Ames but personally I'd rather not go and see a repeat of a concert I saw 6 months ago. With the depth of back catalogue, a songwriter and tunesmith in their midst and a new album coming out I would have thought a new set list would have been relatively straightforward.

I accept that for those that didn't see them on the last Acoustic tour its an all new set but for those that did then the feeling of being short changed comes to mind.  Kiss

I think we've probably been here before.

I'm very fortunate in that I can normally catch two or three gigs in each tour. I can honestly say that, although the sets may be broadly the same, I've never been disappointed. A live performance is a unique animal.
Others feel differently and thank goodness we're not all the same!

I suspect that there may be good commercial reasons for holding back new material 'til the Wintour. Expect the new album to be heavily promoted at Tewkesbury and beyond.
