Nightmoves was an Australian TV show from 1977-84, and featured music videos, interviews and live concerts filmed for the show.  Now for the first time, some of the material has come out on DVD, or a triple DVD in fact, and checking the tracklist on http://chaos.com/product.asp?intProductID=3290447&intArtistID=679183 - what do we see on disc 3 but an interview with Fairport Convention.

This would have to be the Bonny Bunch / Tipplers tales lineup, as they toured Aust in '77 and didn't return till '86.  Suppose I'll have to get a copy now!  The rest is mainly Aust acts plus some others such as live performances from Joe Cocker, Magazine, Graham Parker, Santana etc.

The DVDs are PAL, not sure about region. Hopefully region free...

did you buy your DVD player in the UK?

Chances are it'll be a PAL player then. That's the broadcasting standard here. They use MAC in parts of Europe and NTSC in USA but here we're PALs  Smiley

Perhaps I'd best be quick here then, because I don't know what time lunchtime there might be, as it's early Fri morning here!

On further checking, the DVD is Region 4 which is Australia / NZ etc.  - but not UK.  But if your DVD player (either standalone or on the computer) can play all region discs, you'll be OK.  If not, there might be a way to *make* them all regions by means which a judicious Google might uncover, or they could theoretically be copied and made all regions as part of the process.  Not for me to be any more specific, obviously.

This will probably fit as easily here as starting a similar thread...

A now defunct local radio station had a reunion in 2001 with a website to match, with pics, jingles, old ads etc.  One of the old ads happens to be for a Fairport gig in 1975...

http://tinyurl.com/ccjxfc

He mentions "Aquarian" Sandy Denny which is neither accurate nor in any great context... but anyway, it's a rare ad!

I haven't seen the Nightmoves DVD yet either, so can't comment on that.

Picked up a review copy of the DVD today, so I can report that the interview is with Simon and Peggy, and goes for around 4 minutes only.  They talk about things like line-up changes, Sandy Denny, Bonny Bunch Of Roses etc.

Fairly standard sort of stuff, but interesting for the completist.  Transfer quality is pretty ordinary, I must say, but quite OK.

Not to labour the point, except this one last time, but I've reviewed the overall DVD at http://www.dbmagazine.com.au/465/dr-Nightmoves.shtml .  If you were at all tempted in getting a copy, it might be worth checking out the various quibbles with it...
